GSGC's fiscal year ends October 31. Gifts received prior to that date will enable us to plan powerful programming for 2019. Our goal is $60,000: the highest goal we have set for International Day of the Girl and fiscal year-end fundraising! Having proven the success of our approach, we simply want to empower more girls and strengthen more communities. But we need your help.

Believe Club Alumnae on Their Way to Careers in Medicine
"If a boy can be a doctor, I can do it as well. I want to show society we are supposed to be put on the same level because we are equal." Mirriam Sikaputa, age 21.

Feeling confident and supported by the lessons they learned and the network they wove at Believe Club, these four alumnae are raising a new voice in Zambian society. Each of these young women wants to be a doctor, and seven of their fellow alumnae are currently also at university. Eschewing traditional female roles, these women are pursuing higher education and professional careers because now, they Believe in themselves.

Bringing the Boys Along: GSGC takes aim at changing
cultural attitudes

Stories such as the one above serve as proof points for the life-changing power of GSGC-sponsored Girls Clubs. But what about the other side of the gender equation? What about the boys and the endemic cultural attitudes that so often derail or challenge girls' rights and potential, attitudes that stand in the way of lives defined by dignity and opportunity?
 
We believe the answer is Boys Clubs.
 
GSGC has been working with partners in Zimbabwe and Zambia to develop boys programs. The goal: deepen the support we provide girls by mentoring boys to become men who understand the value of confident, educated girls and women.
 
The good news: people are jumping on board. Boys are asking for clubs, young men are volunteering to be mentors, and school and community leaders are asking us to expand our programs for both girls and boys.
 
The challenge: we need more financial resources to support and grow this essential work in 2019 and beyond.
