Celebrate Your Workforce This September

Here are some ideas to support and celebrate the child welfare workforce. Please contact us if you need assistance or products to support your efforts, we'd love to hear from you!

  1. Start planning festivities for Child Welfare Worker Appreciation Week, September 11-15, 2023. Download the 2023 Recognition Event Kit for ideas.
  2. Promote and register for this year's national recognition event hosted by NCWWI and the Children's Bureau on Tuesday, September 12, at 3 pm EDT. Download marketing materials, graphics, and customizable templates from the event website.
  3. Recognize staff nationally by submitting a thank you message that we'll show at the beginning of this year's recognition event! Also, submit video clips and images of your team to include in the closing thank you video. Fill out the form and submit files by EOD August 31.
  4. Download and share #WeAreChildWelfare graphics to promote how the child welfare workforce supports children, youth, and families in your community. You can feature these graphics in newsletters, post them to social media, share them in meetings, promote them for staff use on the Intranet - the possibilities are endless!
  5. Meet with your communications department to discuss how to proactively pitch media stories to increase the public's understanding of this complex work and the importance of a community-based approach to child protection. The NCWWI Communications Guide can support you in this work. If you do get media, please let us know so we can help share your story, and if you post to social media, please tag @NCWWI and include #WeAreChildWelfare.
  6. Share NCWWI's Workforce Development Framework and discuss strategies within your job responsibilities that will lead to improved workforce health.
  7. Take a moment to center child welfare worker well-being.
