City of waterloo neighbourhoods: strong and connected.

Host your own neighbourhood hangout!

Ready to bring your neighbours together? Let's make it happen!

  1. Chat with your neighbours to understand what type of gathering everyone would enjoy. Maybe a movie night, a potluck, or a games night!
  2. Find the perfect local spot to host it. Use our gathering spaces map to discover indoor and outdoor spaces in Waterloo.
  3. Explore the funding opportunities we have to help support your idea.
  4. Spread the word and plan the gathering with your neighbours. It's more fun when everyone's involved!
  5. Connect with us to help you along the way.

Neighbours gathered around tables and outside. There is food and drinks on the tables with picnic table cloths.

Let's celebrate kindness

Painted rock that says in a world where you can be anything be kind

Every day, neighbours are making their community better in simple and meaningful ways. A kind neighbour might:

  • Welcome someone new with a warm smile or a baked good.
  • Offer a ride to grab groceries or get to an appointment.
  • Brighten the day with a cheerful "good morning".
  • Lend a hand with lawn care.

Did reading this make you think of one of your neighbours? Nominate them for the Neighbour Kindness program and they can get a special thank-you package from us!

A neighbour shared how much they love having a playground and a soccer field right around the corner from them! What a fun way to meet neighbours.
