Their mission, should they choose to accept it...

...which they did... was to make an entire original film in under 48 hours. It must include: tapping, the line "Does your mother know?", and a bouquet of flowers. It must not exceed 8 minutes in length, and it must conform to a genre pulled out of a bear's head (don't ask).

Thank You for the Lessons - 48 FIlm Slam Winner 2022

And the CATV 48-Hour Film Competition WINNER is...

jamCAMP spotlight:

News & Multimedia Journalism Camp

What are the roles and responsibilities of “the media” in our democracy? What makes a good story? How do we know “truth” in reporting?  Campers entering grades 9-12 (high school) will choose current issues of concern to them to report across digital media, including text, podcasting/radio, and TV/ streaming. Professionals from the field will share techniques for conducting interviews, verifying sources, evaluating “truth, making strong creative choices of form and content to achieve engaging storytelling, and journalistic careers of service to the public.

Guests include Maggie Cassidy (VTDigger), Jim Kenyon (Valley News), Rob Gurwitt (Daybreak), and Elizabeth Wilcox (author and journalist).

Directed by Tamsin Orion (documentary filmmaker).

Writing for Television

with Jordyn Fitch

Have you ever watched a really awful episode of something and thought, "I could definitely do this better." Well, you’re right, you probably could. In this media lab, we will focus on writing for television. You’ll learn and discuss the basic conventions of TV writing, and how it varies from writing for the silver screen, as well as delve into the differences between episodic and serial story structures, writing for genre, and how to know what medium works best for telling your story. Whether you have a pilot idea that’s been bonking around in your cranium for years, or just really love a good binge show, I hope this media lab can serve as an entry point for you into the dynamic world of my very, very favorite medium.

Jordyn Fitch grew up in Miramar, Florida, attended Dartmouth College as a Film and Media Studies major, and shares their filmmaking talents with the Upper Valley as CATV's Community Engagement Producer.

In this hour-long interview Republican candidate for Congress Erika Redic discusses her belief that "the Green Mountain State has become better known for its mountain of taxes and regulations than its ski resorts. We’re leaving drug addicts and mentally ill people on the street and calling it mercy."

CATV supports lifelong learning to engage the tools of media for individual and community expression in the Upper Valley.
