MLA Gallery represents Latin Masters such as Rufino Tamayo, Jose Bedia, Francisco Zuniga, Francisco Toledo, Raul Anguiano, Zaida del Rio, Ramon Alejandro, Baruj Salinas, Vladimir Cora, Ada Balcacer, and others. In addition we have a huge selection of work by established contemporary Latin artists.

And a smaller selection of work by Asian stars such as Attasit Pokpong and Virut.

We are in the 696 building. It is the last building on Moulton Avenue, across from the entrance to the UPS depot. Turn left at the office, and make an immediate right, then another right. Follow that alley directly to 696A.

The work from this 90th anniversary suite, were the last prints Tamayo completed, before passing on. The colors are gorgeous, the constructivist lines are elegant, and overall these lithographs are a sublime example of how splendid Tamayo’s print work can be. Very subtle, earthy, and elegant.

Prints from this suite are rare, and difficult to find. All of the Tamayo printwork from MLA Gallery comes with an unconditional guarantee of authenticity, on the gallery letterhead, and a lifetime trade in policy.

All signed and numbered 31/110 in pencil (there were also 25 artist's proofs), published by B/M Ediciones y Arte, and printed by Kyron Ediciones Graficas Limitadas, Mexico City. Done in 1989.

In excellent condition, and unframed.

Vladimir Cora (Mexican) - Manaqui III - 60" x 40" (150 x 101cm.)

acrylic and collage on canvas - 2003

His career is on the ascendancy, & it appears the art community, critics, museums, & collectors are beginning to acknowledge his significance. It was Tamayo who asked Bernard Lewin to represent this young man, when few knew of his existence. He was a student of Tamayo at the time, & Tamayo was very fond of Cora's work. Lewin did very well with his work, & now, the same applies to several galleries in the US, & in Mexico.

Cora has enjoyed over 150 shows worldwide, and is in the permanent collection of many significant museums. Very few works from this period by Cora are presently available anywhere in the world.

We have several more work by Cora available. Please use this link, to see the others:

Raul Enmanuel is this galleries top selling artist. We believe a large part of the reason for this, is due to him being both a conceptual genius, and a technical master, both in the paper and canvas medium.

His texture, compositions, and technical mastery continue to astound. Though his symbology tends toward the abstract, he has hinted that these paintings are representative of feminine, divine beings of a benevolent, and supportive nature. There is great power in these paintings, and the unique forms, symbols, and figures in the end, compose these lovely and highly distinctive abstract, tropical landscapes.

Several articles have been written by renowned art critics on his body of work. Please inquire.

This mid career contemporary Cuban artist has had a number of significant shows, as well as being featured in the permanent collection of several museums, such as:

Emilio Bacardi Museum, Santiago, Cuba

Museo de las Americas, San Juan, PR

Havana Biennial, Havana, Cuba.

The Americas Collection, Coral Gables, FLA.

George Nader, Santo Domingo, DR.

Center of Art 501, San Francisco, CA.

This is the latest work, from this Thai superstar. His work is getting harder and harder for this gallery to offer, as nearly all of his recent shows have sold out. Virut has pioneered an astonishing technique, employing a mixture of collage and oil paint, on canvas. The result is stunning, and this is pop art at it's finest.

We just acquired three new works, as that is all that is currently available, and the gallery will not have these paintings for long! Virut now has galleries in Palm Springs, Las Vegas, Amsterdam, Berlin, Bahrain, Queenstown, Los Angeles, and elsewhere.

Thai artist Virut Panchabuse is known for his bold and expressive pop-art portraits entirely made of collage art. After his first extraordinary success through awards and solo exhibitions in Asia, the artist had his first European exhibition in Amsterdam in 2017, directly followed by one in Bahrain in 2018, selling out in both cities. His artworks are in prestigious worldwide collections such as that of Italian fashion giant Luciano Benetton and Chinese top-model Liu Dan.

By meticulously assembling thousands of tiny old magazine patches (mostly taken from fashion magazines to achieve the right skin colours and textures), the artist creates man-sized, almost hyperrealistic portraits full of expression, vividness and light effects. He thereby celebrates character and emotions of his subjects regardless of their gender, age and ethnicity.

MLA Gallery is offering his work for less than his other galleries. Please inquire.

Wifredo Lam - Barcelona - lithograph - 1976 - 30 x 22in (76 x 56cm)

Barcelona was done by Poligrafa, in Barcelona in 1976. It is extremely rare, sought after, and difficult to find. Within the edition, only 19 of these prints were done with green highlights. This is one of them. They are impossible to find. This print is in mint condition and is sublime, containing a lot of the iconography that makes this Latin Master's work so compelling.

Ramon Alejandro - Cuban Surrealist Master

Museum quality, original work like these paintings, are becoming scarce, and very difficult to find. Alejandro is focusing his efforts on a minimal number of oil paintings per year. As a result, paintings of this caliber are very sought after, and will more than likely appreciate dramatically over time.

Alejandro's recent work is characterized by poetic nostalgia. Amid landscapes bounded by distant cliffs, remote mountains, or calm seas there rise vast stone constructions which, like the mysterious monuments based in the Hindu principle of the mandala, have openings to each of the four points of the compass. They seem to be illustrations for works of science fiction or visions of a world of sheer illusion. Each element is defined in detail by the sure, skilled hand of a mature artist, constantly on the advance, whose creations exert a beguiling effect upon the viewer.

In this galleries opinion, this Cuban Master is the top Surrealist artist, working anywhere in the world today. The fact that his brand of work is Tropical Surrealism makes it that much more desirable, and inspiring to live with.

Ramon Alejandro (Cuba) Adivananza #7 - 2020

Ramon Alejandro (Cuba) Adivananza #5 - 2020

Ramon Alejandro (Cuba) Evanescent Perceptions and Cyclic Time - 2018

Ramon Alejandro - Beetle Forest - 1989

etching - 22 x 16in (55 x 40cm) only $475

Alejandro's graphic work is nearly impossible to find. MLA has the largest selection worldwide. All of this work was done in small editions, as a labor of love, and was done primarily in the 1980's and early 1990's, when he was living in Paris. They are all in absolutely mint condition. We have several works of various images and sizes available. Here is a quick link:

Francisco Toledo (Mexico) Perros Abstractos Geométricos - 2010
hand painted stencil kite, signed on the front - 28 x 22in (70 x 55cm)

This is one of the hand made kites, that were created by this renowned Mexican Master, between 2006 and 2016, as a charity project for the local library construction, and a clinic in Oaxaca. These are signed by Toledo on the front. He created most of these kites, with his workshop.

A VERY SMALL NUMBER OF THESE KITES WERE PAINTED ENTIRELY BY THE MASTER'S HAND.

These are some of them. They were acquired directly from the artist's studio, in around 2007, by an associate of our gallery, and have outstanding provenance. Toledo represented that he painted only a very small number by his own hand, and those are the only ones he was willing to sign on the front.

So, this work represents an original work by Toledo, at a fraction of the cost of a comparably sized painting.

We guarantee this is original work by the Master, and will provide a letter of authenticity.
Francisco Toledo (Mexico) Four star kite with grid - 2010

Mixed media on canvas - 48 x 60in. (125 x 150cm)

Attasit Pokpong (Thailand) - Walking in the Rain V - 2009

oil on canvas - 32 x 24in - (80 x 60cm)

Attasit Pokpong has become one of Thailand's top contemporary artists. He has demonstrated an ability to convey ideas which are distinctive, mysterious, and compelling. Pokpong's technical mastery, combined with his fresh take on everyday life, in this part of the world, combine to make his work stimulating, and gorgeous, while at the same time creating a great deal of intrigue.

His recent shows worldwide, have sold out. Pokpong shows at Art Basel, both in Miami and in Basel. He is represented worldwide, but, very little of this style of work is available anywhere in the world. His painting are continuing to appreciate, and at this pace, they may very well represent a very smart and stable investment in fine art. These paintings are far more beautiful in person, than they are in the images. The photos just cannot capture the subtle beauty of the work, nor the mastery of the technique.

Attasit Pokpong (Thailand)

Boyhood 2007

oil on canvas, 63 x 55" (160 x 140cm.)

Attasit Pokpong (Thailand) - Childhood - 2008

oil on canvas - 75 x 75in - (190 x 190cm)

Attasit Pokpong (Thailand) Purple gal 2011

oil on canvas 64 x 56" (160 x 140cm.)

Attasit Pokpong (Thailand) Streets of Bangkok V 2005

oil on canvas - 64 x 47" (160 x 120cm.)

Chanchai is very well regarded for his technical mastery. Pokpong inspired a whole school of Thai artists, who are emulating his brand of Chinese pop art. Since he long ago stopped doing this style of work, (and has resorted to a muddier, more conceptual style) and the demand continues, we went in search of other artists, capable of this level of painting. Chanchai's body of work represents some of the best paintings we have seen, in this genre, and he has become our top Thai artist, for good reason.

These paintings are priced at a third of the price of a comparable work by Pokpong, or a few of the other art stars in Bangkok. These paintings are far more beautiful in person, than they are in the images. The photos barely capture the subtle beauty of the work, and the mastery of the technique. We offer a money back guarantee on these lovely paintings, however to date, not a single one has been returned.

Jo Chanchai - Eastern Beauties XI - 2016

oil on canvas - 57 x 48in (140 x 120cm)

Jo Chanchai - Eastern Beauties III - 2014

Wirapon Pranteep (Thailand) - Tribal Sensuality - 2020

acrylic on canvas - 48 x 40in (120 x 100cm)

Wiraporn is our latest discovery. Her work is sublime. She is not a superstar. But her talent speaks for itself, and the work is priced at only $2,400 stretched. The wrinkles are due to the work being photographed without being stretched.

Nick Chawat (Thailand) - VIP Tuk Tuk - 2018
