The Impact of U.S.-Canada Relations on New York State Tourism

“New York State stands to be among the most impacted by a prolonged U.S.-Canadian trade battle. A clear understanding of impacted industries that intersect with cross-border travel is beneficial to amplifying our message that much of our state relies on Canadian buyers and visitors. Policy and rhetoric that drives down that sentiment can have severe consequences for those relying on Canadian buying power." - Corey Fram, 1000 Islands International Tourism Council

New York State’s economy is deeply connected to Canadian trade and travel, making it particularly vulnerable to the effects of a prolonged U.S.-Canada trade dispute. To support informed advocacy efforts, the Canadian Consulate General to New York has made a document available outlining key industries affected by cross-border trade policies. This resource was recently shared with state legislators and may be of interest. Access the document

NYSTIA is committed to bolstering your advocacy efforts with the new and improved NYSTIA Advocacy Action Center! Do you have an advocacy action that needs to be shared? Please contact us!
