Dear South Mountain,
The Friends of South Mountain Partnership is celebrating its first birthday this summer! Despite the challenges faced over the last year, supporters came together to establish a group dedicated to supporting the mission of the South Mountain Partnership (SMP).
The Friends group works to support SMP in the mission to promote and preserve our region’s farmland, historic places, and natural and recreational assets that enhance the quality of life and sense of place for citizens, communities, and businesses. As Friends of SMP, we have made it our priority to help spread the word about what the SMP is and why it is important to our region. The Friends support has allowed SMP to translate this mission into results in a couple key areas over the past year…
- Launched the Friends group through support from The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC) and SMP committee members.
- Facilitated 10 events connecting over 500 community members. These educational opportunities increase awareness of best practices and upcoming issues which allow us to act proactively to achieve our common goals.
- Gained 31 founding members whose financial support positions the Friends to meet our financial obligations in 2021 and reach into new goals of increasing the name recognition of SMP.
- Identified fundraising needs to help the Friends become more effective - physical tools, communications collateral, and more people.
We hope you will join us in these activities and more by becoming a member of the Friends of SMP. Memberships run July 1-June 30 of each year. Becoming a member is simple: click here to join.
Look for us to be participating in more events over the coming year as well as producing more material to help build the name recognition of SMP. We hope you can join us by attending an SMP meeting or keeping up with us online. Your support is critical to connecting our beloved region with its greatest resource and champion; the people that call it home.
Sincerely,
Sarah Kipp, Susan Richards, and Jen Brehm
