City of Perry Appoints Robert Smith as City Manager | | |
The Perry City Council voted Tuesday, November 18 to appoint Robert Smith as the next City Manager for the City of Perry.
Robert Smith has served as Assistant City Manager since 2018 and brings more than 15 years of experience in local government administration, public policy, and community development.
“I’m deeply honored and grateful for the opportunity to serve as the City Manager in Perry,” Smith said. “Perry is an exceptional community with a lot of positive things going on. In my time with the City I have seen it grow into a model community, and I look forward to continuing with that momentum in my new role."

Due to a pending Georgia Department of Transportation construction project on General Courtney Hodges Boulevard, this year’s Perry Christmas Parade will follow a modified route.
The parade will begin at New Hope Baptist Church, travel down Washington Street, turn left onto Main Street, and conclude at the Perry VA Clinic on Main Street.
Parade Date: December 6
Start Time: 10:00 a.m.

October 2025 Perry Fire & Emergency Services Stats
The City of Perry Fire & Emergency Services Department received a total of 371 calls during the month of October in 2025.
The Perry Fire Department is a 2-station department that contains a staff of firefighters providing fire protection, emergency medical services, technical rescue operations, fire safety education, fire cause investigation, and fire code inspections to a population of over 26,000 across 27.9 square miles.
