David O. Thorsen

Tribute Concert & Reception

Friday, October 21 & Saturday, October 22

Mr. David Thorsen was an incredible educator in the School of Music, and his impact on the educational experience of so many of our alumni was life-long.

Mr. Thorsen was professor emeritus of music and founding director of Cal State Fullerton’s choral music program. During his tenure, he helped expand the choral music program from 40 singers in one choir to more than 300 singers in five vocal ensembles. Under Mr. Thorsen’s leadership, the choral program gained national recognition for its excellence in performance and comprehensive curriculum in choral conducting.

We are planning a very special weekend to pay tribute to the Mr. Thorsen’s

Titan legacy that will include receptions, singing favorite pieces together, and opportunities to connect with current and former faculty members and students

now performing in Cal State Fullerton’s choirs. We hope that you, our School of Music Alumni, will join us.

Please email artsevents@fullerton.edu or click below to let us know if you are able to participate in the Friday evening reception, the Saturday alumni rehearsal, and the Saturday evening concert and reception. This will enable us to coordinate catering accurately. We ask that you indicate any food restrictions or allergies, as we will be providing lunch on Saturday.
