Let’s Celebrate the Season!

First, I want to wish everyone the happiest of holidays! No matter which one we celebrate and what challenges we face, it’s the time of year to give thanks for our colleagues, clients, families, and friends.

To reflect on this past year, I began working on a photo album and thought it would be different from previous years because of COVID.

As I sorted through my photos, it became clear that we had a joyful year. I saw happy faces, silly smiles, lots of laughter, warm hugs, and plenty of good times. We looked just as happy—and gratefully, just as healthy—as we’ve ever been. I’m thankful!

We took two family vacations—one to the beach and one to a lake resort—because they were “COVID friendly.” In spite of everything, we were able to spend quality time together as a family and to provide simple, fun-filled activities for the kids. I’m thankful!

Some people reading this may have had a tough year and I’m sensitive to that.  Yes, we had fun this year, but there was also a lot of blood, sweat and tears in our home. Home schooling is one of the most challenging, patience-testing scenarios a parent can have.  I’m still thankful.

Business has also been different and the ramifications of COVID on our industry are still not clear. I’m sure most of us have lost sleep over the past eight months. We’re hanging on, and optimistic that in 2021 and beyond Creditors Rights’ litigation will continue to thrive. I’m thankful!

The pandemic has also brought awareness of and perspective on things that we took for granted in normal times. I have more respect for teachers than I did before. They are amazing! We need to appreciate our educators and give them the support and respect they deserve. Thank you!

I’m especially thankful for my parents this year. Our relationship has been particularly meaningful during the pandemic. I’m also thankful for what wonderful grandparents they are—always thinking of the children!

Technology is a big winner this year, too! What would we have done without ZOOM for business, laptops for school, iPads to facetime loved ones, and the ability to have a home office? I’m thankful!

As we close out the year, I want to personally thank all of you for your support of The Forwarders List. I cannot express how much it means that I can go to work every day as a productive member of society. I’m especially thankful!

We will continue to get through this together. The vaccines should be available to everyone soon, and hopefully, it will be the end of COVID.

The court systems will be able to fully open up and we can get back to business as usual. Hopefully, 2021 will be a New Year…fingers and toes are crossed!

With heartfelt appreciation, I wish everyone peace, prosperity, and good health in 2021.

-Gary
