Dear Providence,

The inaugural Lunar New Year Open House is two weeks away!

I am thrilled to invite you to this joyous event honoring the cultural heritage of our Asian communities! This family-friendly celebration will feature a performance by SASSY, a vibrant musical group featuring five talented members from the Jim Scott Community Center's senior program, Chinese Calligraphy, arts, traditional cuisines, and fortune cards. Please join us to learn about Lunar New Year traditions and welcome a prosperous new year on Thursday, January 23rd from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at the Jim Scott Community Center (3001 Vaden Drive).

I can't wait to see you there!

More snow is on the way. Although it won’t be as heavy as the first storm earlier this week, the National Weather Service is predicting 1 to 2 more inches will fall overnight tonight. In addition, a Hazardous Weather Outlook is in effect for Fairfax County and the surrounding areas.

Snow is expected to fall between 9 and 11 pm this evening and continue until early Saturday morning. Temperatures are expected to be in the mid-20s during the event. The rest of Saturday should be clear with a high near 35 degrees. The main concern will be slick and icy roads overnight and Saturday morning. Please check road conditions, allow extra travel time, and exercise caution while driving. Our Guide to Snow has everything you need, from updates on road conditions and snow removal to the latest forecasts.

Stay safe and warm,
