Food, Fun and Fellowship

San Diego Education Fund scholarship recipients are back in class after a well-deserved winter break that included food, fun and fellowship at Dave & Busters Mission Valley.

The hardworking college students are graduates of San Diego Unified School District. Having secured a multiyear, San Diego Education Fund scholarship, the students today are training to become teachers and STEM professionals.

Beyond financial assistance, San Diego Education Fund serves students with mentoring and team building.

On Dec. 29, our get-together started by getting students talking, meeting someone new and sharing information about that person with the group.

Find-a-word games bring a mixture of concentration, collaboration and smiles.

"Substitute teaching gave me experience to handle behaviors at all grade levels."

"My favorite part was meeting the [San Diego Education Fund] Board at the Ed Center to talk about my experience. It got me focused on what I'm going to do after college."

— Cameron Norman, Morse High School alum and second year biology student at UC San Diego, recalls interacting with Board Members.
