The Western New York Alzheimer's Caregiver Partnership is funding a monthly drop-off respite program
at Indian Falls United Methodist Church, in Corfu. "Caring Hearts and Hands" offers games, crafts, light chair exercises and sing-alongs to keep loved ones occupied while their caregivers takes a much-needed break. Learn
The Alzheimer's Association Western New York Chapter
will oversee a three-year, $4.5 million dollar grant from the New York State Department of Health to expand dementia caregiving initiatives across seven counties. Funds will provide services for caregivers of individuals with dementia, including support groups, respite services, safety strategies, and educational programs. See
Two REST Master Trainer courses will take place this spring: on March 6-7 in Bloomingdale, and June 20-21, in Addison
. The courses will prepare experienced REST trainers to conduct the two-day Train-the-Trainer course and to mobilize REST training throughout their state. See course details.
Voice of Care
, a service organization of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, held a Companion course on Jan. 20, in Hillside. Those who completed the training will serve in a variety of settings, including camps for individuals with disabilities, and congregational drop-off respite programs.

Neighborhood Church of the Brethren
, Montgomery, is seeking volunteers to provide respite care for children with special needs, while their parents, guardians and caregivers attend a support group.

Stanislaus County Aging & Veterans Services
, Modesto. Through the training, the program can meet the needs of the growing number of caregivers who request respite-care services through the Family Caregiver Support Program.
Alzheimer's of Central Alabama
provides scholarships for individuals with Alzheimer's disease to attend adult day care centers, so their caregivers can work or take a break. The program serves families in 21 counties across the central part of the state, with the mission of helping families keep their loved ones at home for as long as possible.
Dementia Perspectives Caregiver Conference
will take place on Feb. 17, at Spring Hill Presbyterian Church, Mobile. The event will include a panel of national speakers, entertainment and lunch. Register
