Benicia Refinery Celebrates Its 50th Anniversary By Giving Back

At the October 15th Benicia City Council Meeting, the Valero Energy Foundation proudly donated $150,000 to the Benicia Little League for renovations at Fitzgerald Field.

The Benicia Refinery's donation to the Little League is part of a broader celebration for 50 years operating in Benicia. Other activities include community tree planting and an additional pair of $50,000 donations to both the Kyle Hyland Foundation for Teen Support and Benicia Community Action Council.

In recognition of the Benicia Refinery's 50 years in operation, the Benicia City Council issued a proclamation and our State Senator Bill Dodd and Assemblymembers Tim Grayson, Cecilia Aguiar-Curry and Jim Frazier authored a resolution recognizing the positive impact the Valero Benicia Refinery has had within the community.

"Powering the world's fifth-largest economy takes supreme personnel, quality equipment and immense teamwork," said Don Wilson, Vice President and General Manager. "The Benicia Refinery has proven year in and year out that we are the best at what we do, and I am extremely grateful to our employees and annuitants who make our refinery a great place to work."

Empty Bowls 2019

Volunteers from the Benicia Refinery recently participated in the Fairfield Empty Bowls event in partnership with the Solano Food Bank. Attendees received a choice of soup served in about 250 ceramic bowls, made and donated by Solano Community College art students. Funds raised from this event go toward helping the Food Bank of Solano and Contra Costa counties put food on the table for 178,000 people each year.
