Celebrating 75 years of ‘Alice in Dairyland’

Alice in Dairyland is getting ready to celebrate 75 years here in Wisconsin.

Each year, Alice in Dairyland travels more than 30,000 miles throughout the state, promoting Wisconsin agriculture.

The 75th Alice in Dairyland event will be hosted by Dane County this year, and will be held on Saturday, May 21st at the Monona Terrace in Madison. At this event the new Alice in Dairyland will be named and chosen for the position with the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection.

Global beef update: Imports

The recent USDA Foreign Agricultural Service bulletin on Livestock and Poultry: World Markets and Trade provides a current summary of the major beef consuming and importing countries in the world.

Total global beef consumption is forecast to increase slightly in 2022 with increased consumption in China, Brazil, India, Mexico and Japan and decreased total beef consumption in the U.S., European Union (E.U.), Russia, the United Kingdom (U.K.), and Canada.

Milk Prices Plunge Lower

Tuesday’s Global Dairy Trade event #306 tool place and the price index settled lower on the day by 3.6%. Whole Milk Powder pulled back 4.4% to $1.89/lb, the third consecutive decrease from the 5-year set back in March.

Skim Milk Powder eased 4.2% to $2.01/lb. Cheddar cheese was 3.9% lower to around $2.80/lb.

Butter fell 3.6% to $3.01/lb.

In the CME spot trade, dairy products were lower on the day.
