Meet Interpipe Contracting’s
Kristina Luban -
Kristina has been with Interpipe Contracting, Inc. for 23 years. Interpipe is a women owned company founded 37 years ago by Ron and Mary Smith (who happen to be Kristina’s parents. Kristina shared with ABCSD that she did not start out in construction, in fact as she completed college she worked for the San Diego Superior Court, El Cajon Branch with their Traffic & Criminal Division. After seven years she left to start a career with the Sheriff’s academy, however, life had different plans for her. Kristina found herself as a single parent of a toddler and needed a safer and more stable career. At this point, her career path changed, and she states, “I was lucky enough to have my parents and a construction company to join”. Kristina is the company’s administrator which includes doing compliance, safety, and assisting project management. Kristina shared “I have done some digging and dirt moving on a project, even though it was only for a few days. Through these 23 years, I continuously learn and adapt to a lot of changes, both the good and the bad in our industry.”
Kristina also has been active with our San Diego Chapter over the last seven years. She started out as a volunteer on our PAC committee working to help fight discriminating PLA’s and as an employee advocate. In addition to serving in this capacity, Kristina joined ABCSD’s Board of Directors, eventually serving as our 2021 Chair. Kristina concluded "It is wonderful to see how women are evolving in construction. Not just secretaries, or AP/AR personnel, but leading and managing projects and working in the field. It makes me proud to be part of that”
Thank you Kristina for your leadership and contributions!
