Happy Black History Month!

We’re excited to celebrate Black History Month at CHA – a time to honor and celebrate the rich contributions of Black individuals to our culture, history, and society.

This month, we have the opportunity to reflect on the achievements and legacy of remarkable figures, as well as the ongoing journey toward equality and justice. Let us take this time to educate ourselves, uplift Black voices, and engage in meaningful conversations that promote understanding and inclusion.

Let us also remember that while we celebrate this month, it is imperative that we also acknowledge the impact of Black history on our day to day. Every day at CHA we engage in work that celebrates the diversity that enriches our community and honors the past while working toward a more equitable future.

Blessings,

Conan

Rest in Peace Fletcher "Flash" Wiley

It is with heavy hearts that we remember the remarkable life of Fletcher "Flash" Wiley, a cherished member of our community whose impact will not be forgotten.

Flash was a champion of diversity and inclusivity, dedicating his career to advocating for equal opportunities for all. We remember not only his professional achievements, but also his fierce commitment to uplifting those around him. His passion and dedication inspired many, and his legacy will continue to resonate within the City of Boston and beyond.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who were touched by his spirit. May we carry forward his love, enthusiasm, and commitment to making the world a better place.

Partner Updates

We’ve made significant strides toward Meet Boston’s two critical initiatives to strengthen the city’s hospitality and tourism industries. Launched in 2023, the Workforce Development Initiative and the Supplier Diversity Initiative are more than just objectives —they are key pillars of our broader strategy to create a more welcoming, vibrant, inclusive, and prosperous Boston for both residents and visitors.

With the support of over two dozen Meet Boston-affiliated organizations, the Workforce Development Initiative empowers individuals from all backgrounds by providing training and career opportunities to enhance their skills and employability. The CHA team has compiled an extensive list of job openings across Boston’s hotel and tourism sectors, helping many of the city’s most talented professionals secure exciting new careers they may not have previously considered. We remain committed to expanding this list to help even more young professionals achieve their career aspirations.

Another key objective, the Supplier Diversity Initiative, is designed to expand Meet Boston’s network of vendors by including businesses owned by women, minorities, veterans, and other historically marginalized groups. We are excited to share that we are in the final stages of the RFP process, with vendor presentations well underway. We anticipate announcing the contract winner in March.
