Celebrating Black Owned Businesses
During Black History Month, the CV SBDC team is excited to have opportunities to support local Black owned businesses. 2022 is off to a strong start, with the CV SBDC team serving 30 Black owned businesses during January.

We encourage our community to support local Black owned businesses not only during Black History Month, but throughout the entire year.

Supporting Small Businesses in Fluvanna
Entrepreneurship Certificate - Fluvanna Cohort
The Fluvanna County Economic Development Authority has used a Charlottesville Area Community Foundation grant to help support 15 Fluvanna businesses partnering with Community Investment Collaborative (CIC) and CV SBDC. Having sponsored these 15 small businesses to go through the CIC Entrepreneur Workshop, Fluvanna EDA is now working with CV SBDC to have these businesses go through our Entrepreneurship Certificate workshop series in preparation for an upcoming Pitch Competition.

The CV SBDC team is thrilled to take this Fluvanna cohort through the 4-part Entrepreneurship Certificate series and help them prepare pitches for the upcoming Pitch Competition.

Rudy Garcia from the Fluvanna EDA shared "The EDA is proud to be able to help our Small Business Owners learn, grow and thrive right here in Fluvanna County." The CV SBDC team is always excited when our localities come to us as a resource to help support local small businesses!

At least two of the businesses will receive grants from the Fluvanna EDA as prizes from the Pitch Competition that they can use to continue to grow their businesses.
