This year, GardenShare teamed up with the WISER Center at SUNY Potsdam to say thank you to our friends and neighbors who are so integral to our efforts to solve hunger in St. Lawrence County and nurture a strong, vibrant local food system. This event, made possible through grants from the Corning Foundation and the Alcoa Foundation, featured guided tours of the
WISER Center, a social hour highlighted by the live music of the very talented, Doug Rubio, and the dinner and award ceremony featuring exceptionally well-prepared, locally sourced food, and of course, our honored guest of the evening, Gloria McAdam. As our former, much beloved Executive Director, it was an honor and privilege to recognize Gloria for the hard work, dedication, vision and passion she brought to her leadership role here at GardenShare. With almost 100 people in attendance, we think it is fair to say she made an impression during her tenure with the organization. Thank you to all who attended the event, broke bread with us and helped us honor and pay tribute to Gloria with the much-deserved Growing Community Award. We are reminded once again, just how special this community is.

Community Comes Together for Potato Gleaning

24 volunteers dug around 700 pounds of potatoes in order to return some value to the farmers from a harvest that would have been lost, and supply grassroots community food assistance programs with delicious, organic potatoes. Thank you volunteers!!

E-Ways to Give This Holiday Season

While we may occasionally bemoan our plugged in lives, there are many advantages of the digital world, not the least of which, is having access to easy, fast, low cost ways for making contributions
to our favorite local charities doing great work right here in our community. Platforms such as
Facebook Fundraisers and
Amazon Smile allow a charitable giver to donate larger contributions than they would otherwise be able to. Indeed, just this month, one young supporter raised $500 for GardenShare through a Facebook Birthday Fundraiser. Way to go Will Trithart!! This year at GardenShare, we are specifically asking our North Country neighbors to contribute to our Bonus Bucks Program to help lower-income families stretch their food dollars, while having access to affordable, nutritious, local food. All you have to do is plug in, make a few clicks, and make a big difference for a lot of lives right here in this community!

This year, GardenShare partnered with the Field & Fork Network and local Farmers Markets to provide SNAP customers with the ability to "Double Up Food Bucks" on fresh fruits and veggies! We are pleased to be able to offer this valuable service to our community!
