Success Stories
Virtual Independence
One consumer has been working with Alliance of Disability Advocates for a while and has had many difficulties with her cell phone. She was unaware of all of the accessibility options that her phone could offer her, and how she could use it efficiently. She meets with her Community Inclusion Specialist weekly to teach the consumer to use her phone.

There are so many things that these devices can offer us, and the consumer is beyond grateful for the assistance. She now can navigate web pages and use various applications.
The First Step to Living Independently

The Information and Referral Services Manager completed an intake with a new consumer this month. The consumer initially called for help with purchasing a laptop but once she learned about the services we offer, she was interested in much more than just a laptop.

However, the laptop will be an essential tool to reduce isolation, participate in medical care, and look for part-time employment, so the request for the laptop was the first step the staff member and consumer worked on.

When the consumer heard about being approved for the laptop she said, “that is good news. I was ready for something good.”
