PREPARING FOR SUNDAY - Purple & Peace!

Acts 16:9-15
Psalm 67
Revelation 21:10, 22-22:5
John 14:23-29

In this Sunday's reading from Acts, there is the story of Lydia of Thyatira, "The Woman of Purple". She is regarded as the first convert to Christianity in Europe. In the reading from John, the reassurance of peace is given. Seek purple and think peace.

Gracious God,through a vision you sent forth Paul to preach the gospel and called the women to the place of prayer on the Sabbath. Grant that we may be like Paul and be found like Lydia, our hearts responsive to your word and open to go where you lead us. Amen.

Outreach
Be a Diva Donor!

We are half way to our goal of sponsoring 10 dancers from Highland Avenue! The Little Divas hope to purchase new uniforms this year which cost $39.00 so let's help as many of them as we can. Donate alone or join together with friends - every amount is important. Another way to help is to come to a carwash fundraiser in the St. Martin's parking lot on Saturday June 15th from 11:00-1:30. The Little Divas and St. Martin's Youth will get your car sparkling clean - a perfect Father's Day gift! For more information, please contact Pam Faber.
Special Sunday
Worship and Praise!

Please plan to attend either of next week's services on Recognition Sunday, June 2nd. The Rev. Bob Tate, transition consultant for the Diocese of Pennsylvania, will preach and lead a conversation on the evolving relationship with Christ Church, Ithan, and the upcoming search for a single Rector to lead both congregations. Your input to this process if very important. In addition, students, graduates, and teachers will be recognized during the 10:00 AM service for their efforts this year. Everyone is invited to show their support and share in their successes!
All Levels Yoga Class
Breathe, stretch, and destress!

The next St. Martin’s yoga class will be June 4th, at 6:30 p.m in the Gurley Room. Enjoy this opportunity to indulge in some self-care. It's a great mind-body-soul experience!
Gryphon Cafe
A Midweek Gathering

The next Upper Room gathering is on Wednesday, June 12th, at 6:00 PM upstairs at the Gryphon Café, 105 W. Lancaster Ave, Wayne. Discussions will relate to: “Potential” is a very weird thing. It doesn’t actually exist yet but many of us base our lives on it. What do think is your “potential”? How do you reach it? Stop in on any 2nd or 4th Wednesday for some interesting conversation and fellowship.

Dennis is expected to be received during the diaconal ordination service, Saturday June 8th, 2019 at the Philadelphia Cathedral. Visit the event page for more information. Congratulations Dennis!
Pentecost
Joint Celebration!

Plan on a special joint Pentecost Celebration with Christ Church, Ithan, on Sunday, June 9th, starting with an outdoor worship service on the grounds of St. Martin’s (rain location: Ithan Hall). A picnic will follow the service and include food, drinks, games, and lots of fun and fellowship! Remember to wear red to symbolize the joy and fire of the Holy Spirit. Sandwiches and beverages will be available. CCI attendees are bringing desserts and we are responsible for side dishes.

Suggested items to bring: a side dish, lawn chairs or blankets, and friends!
Bible Study News
Sessions Continue in May

The Bible discussion on the final Wednesday in May is at Christ Church starting at 7 p.m. Then on June 5 the group will return to St. Martin's and have the Bible Study in the Large Sunday School room at the end of the hall on the 1st floor. We welcome newcomers. With this discussion approach, each week stands alone and books are available to borrow. Your voice can be part of the dialogue as we interpret the synoptic gospels in the context of our lives. Please contact Deb Parker if you have any questions or would like to take a look at the book we are using before the next meeting.

If you would like to learn more about Approaching the Gospels, please visit the website or Facebook page.
