The sweet ‘n sleek three-year-old cat came to us from our hardworking friends at Solano County Animal Care when they were beyond capacity.
During her intake exam, our team noted that Sophie had a mild cough and sounded a little congested, so they started her on antibiotics and monitored her closely. When her symptoms became worse, our veterinary team took sedated x-rays and bloodwork and diagnosed a lower respiratory infection. After receiving fluids and additional medications, Sophie responded quickly and was on the mend.
While she was healing, she began to reveal her demure purr-sonality! Shy and mellow, she preferred to stay in her cozy cubby… that is until she met Victoria, one of our cat care volunteers. When Victoria visited her during her shifts, Sophie would run up and politely demand affection. Sophie didn’t waste any time signing her name on Victoria’s heart, and by Valentine’s Day Victoria was signing her name on adoption papers!
We were thrilled to receive this recent love note:
“The only cat I've ever had who adjusted as quickly as she has was a six-week-old kitten. It took her about an hour to get over being afraid. She goes all over the house exploring. She climbs to the highest level of the kitty condo. She likes to cuddle but not excessively. She follows me around most of the time, but doesn’t protest when I need to go out and run errands. She seems perfectly content!
“Thank you, HSSC, for making it possible for me to meet and fall in love with Sophie.”
