Mr. Peaches

FKA Micah

A Sweet Ending!

Micah had endured a lot in his young life. He and his littermates had been abandoned for an estimated two weeks before they were rescued by our amazing partners at Forgotten Felines. In spite of his matted, dirty fur scabs and sneezes, the Creamsicle-colored kitten was sweet and trusting. We treated him for an upper respiratory infection and in no time flat he was scooped up by a wonderful family - including a canine bonus brother!

Here’s the update:

“I adopted Micah last October! He is now Mr. Peaches! He has been also adopted by 9-year-old Black Lab! They are BEST BUDS!!”

A Pasta-tively Happy Tail!

“Hello! My partner and I recently adopted a cat from your Healdsburg location and I wanted to share an update.

Noodle, formerly known as Polly, has been a wonderful addition to our life and has brought us so much happiness. We love her so much already and are so happy with our new little (6-year-old) baby. Here are some photos of Noodle settling into her new life and becoming sassier every day.

Thank you all again so much!”

Sophie

Sophie Chose A Home!

The sweet ‘n sleek three-year-old cat came to us from our hardworking friends at Solano County Animal Care when they were beyond capacity.

During her intake exam, our team noted that Sophie had a mild cough and sounded a little congested, so they started her on antibiotics and monitored her closely. When her symptoms became worse, our veterinary team took sedated x-rays and bloodwork and diagnosed a lower respiratory infection. After receiving fluids and additional medications, Sophie responded quickly and was on the mend.

While she was healing, she began to reveal her demure purr-sonality! Shy and mellow, she preferred to stay in her cozy cubby… that is until she met Victoria, one of our cat care volunteers. When Victoria visited her during her shifts, Sophie would run up and politely demand affection. Sophie didn’t waste any time signing her name on Victoria’s heart, and by Valentine’s Day Victoria was signing her name on adoption papers!

We were thrilled to receive this recent love note:

“The only cat I've ever had who adjusted as quickly as she has was a six-week-old kitten. It took her about an hour to get over being afraid. She goes all over the house exploring. She climbs to the highest level of the kitty condo. She likes to cuddle but not excessively. She follows me around most of the time, but doesn’t protest when I need to go out and run errands. She seems perfectly content!

“Thank you, HSSC, for making it possible for me to meet and fall in love with Sophie.”

Paw-trol Officer

As a mature Chihuahua mix, Pamela wasn’t messing around. She wanted one thing from us and that thing was a cozy home where she could be spoiled and loved, preferably somewhere with a picture window where she could enjoy sunny snoozes in between neighborhood watch duties.

To make her path to adoption more homelike, two of our staffers tag teamed to foster her. Kathy shared her office with her by day and Sandra took her home at night. It didn’t take long for a wonderful adopter to fall in love with her picture on our website. She drove all the way down from Humboldt County just to meet her and discovered this frosted-faced beauty was even more perfect in real life!

Pamela’s new mom is giving her everything she dreamed of and more:

“I have named her GiGi, short for ‘Good Girl’ and she is so delightful! I couldn’t be happier and she seems to feel that way too. Thank you for taking such good care of her and making her feel loved and safe in her travels from what came before until I got her.

“I am putting a lot of thought into her care and it seems to be working. She is exactly what I needed; a sweet, charming, loving companion. Funny, too! Thank you again.”

Minnie

Minnie’s BIG Adventure

“I adopted Minnie from you earlier this month. She is absolutely adorable and is fitting in so well. She's attached to my hip but also loves to run and play outside. I just absolutely love her and I wanted to thank you profusely; you guys do such a good job. Too bad I'm so far away otherwise, I would come bring her in and do some volunteer work. Anyway, love to all you guys. Thank you so very much!”

A Soft Landing!

“My husband and I adopted a cat a little over a week ago. We are in love. It is a great fit. Her name was Rhonda, but we decided to rename her Minky because her coat is so soft. Thanks to the shelter for making this adoption a wonderful reality. We think it was meant to be!”
