Dear Friends of Prospera,

It's that time of year again for us, our annual signature program, the Health Equity for All (HEFA) Symposium, is happening in just 10 days, and we invite you to join us!

Celebrating 35 Years of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

We gather in a momentous year — 35 years after the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) — a law that transformed access and protections for millions of disabled people across the United States. For over three decades, the ADA has opened doors, demanded accommodations, and affirmed that disabled lives are full lives deserving of dignity and equal opportunity. And yet, the work is far from finished. That is why this year's theme is focused on not just talking about medicine or hospitals but also confronting the ethical and moral questions that unfold in our homes, schools, workplaces, and communities every single day.

An Intimate and Meaninful Gathering

We are keeping the gathering intimate — capped at 100–150 participants — to ensure meaningful connection. And while HEFA has been free in past years, this year we are introducing tiered admission to sustain the event in the face of funding cuts and limited sponsorship opportunities.

Please know that no one will be turned away for lack of funds. If someone you know would like to come please contact Julie Lozano jlozano@prosperainstitute.org and we can ensure they are registered.

I hope you’ll join us at Bethel AME on September 27 for this critical conversation.

This event is made possible by the Platinum Sponsorship of Morehouse School of Medicine. Also by Neighborhealth and the Resilient Sisterhood Project.

Sincerely,
Joanne Suarez, MBe
