As we celebrate today, we want to highlight Senator Troy Carter's record of fighting for equal rights for women. As a member of the state legislature, Senator Carter worked to pass legislation to improve treatment for breast cancer patients in Louisiana. Not only that, he has consistently defended the reproductive rights of Louisianans when they were under attack. With Louisiana suffering from one of the worst gender pay gaps in the country, Troy Carter has been a staunch supporter of efforts to pass a state equal pay act.
Beyond his legislative record, Senator Carter believes women belong in ALL spaces where decisions are being made. And he's acted on that belief.
