January Theme - Root & Reboot



As we learn our principles and practices, it is important to live them, not hide them under a bushel basket. Finding ways to live them fully in everyday life is the real and very practical goal of Unity teachings. For 2023, our annual and monthly themes are calling us to this full expression, to “Living Out Loud.” The weekly messages are designed to help remind us to boldly and bravely go even further than those before us have gone! Let us be daring embodiments of this teaching. May they help us develop a willingness and attitude of truly living Unity out loud.

Sunday, January 22nd - Celebrating Life As Source

It’s time to surrender to the Bigger Idea of Life. It’s time for us to move from struggle into celebration. Today we live in the flow, and the joy of simply being alive surrounds us.

Affirmation: This One Life is my life right now, and I celebrate it out loud!

We have spent this month reminding ourselves of who we are, through the basics of Unity. Today is our final step – and it’s the most important one of all. We prepare ourselves to surrender into our life – and into this year. What if we were to surrender to Spirit/Source Itself entirely? This is what it takes to Live Out Loud! When we surrender our falsehoods, our fears, and our doubt, we free ourselves to live out loud in celebration. Every day becomes a day to celebrate the simplicity and the beauty of life itself.

New Order of Service COMING SOON!

Thank you all for a great town hall meeting last Sunday. The comments, both spoken and written, were all heartfelt and helpful as we create a new Order of Service for our Sunday celebration.

Would you like to serve on the Board of Trustees?

The Nominating Committee is accepting applications for the 2022/2023 term on the Board of Trustees. As you know, the Trustees are responsible for a variety of important roles in the business of running this Center. We work in collaboration with the Minister, Dr. David Goldberg. There are exciting things coming our way this year! If you want to be an integral part of it, consider the honor of serving as a Trustee.

Prayer Chaplain Program

We are excited to share with you that we will be conducting a Prayer Chaplain Training via Zoom In February and March. What does it mean to be a Prayer Chaplain? Our Prayer Chaplains are a foundational support for our Spiritual Center. They call all of the Members each month to support them in Prayer. They also pray for the Members and the Spiritual Center daily. Being a Prayer Chaplain is a calling. It is a volunteer position that contributes greatly to your own spiritual growth. It is a higher way to serve your community.

If this sounds interesting to you, please pick up a Prayer Chaplain Brochure in the foyer or ask one of the Prayer Chaplains. The dates for the Orientation are Sunday January 29th at 11:15 a.m. in the Sanctuary and via Zoom, and Wednesday February 1st  at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. You need to attend ONE Orientation session, but we have scheduled more for your convenience.

Flowers to Brighten the Platform Each Week

We joyfully extend an invitation to you to provide flowers for the platform. A calendar is posted on the Unity Bulletin Board for you to sign up for the Sunday that works best for you. You are invited to name an occasion that the flowers represent and we will announce it from the platform! Be sure to take the bouquet home with you or give them to someone if you wish. We look forward to your beautiful bouquets! To sign up; go to the bulletin board or text River at (719)-233-4341.

Last Sunday's flowers to brighten the platform were brought in by John and Brenda Rogers. After the service they were taken to where Kathy Fallon is recovering from surgery. She was so happy to get them! They really brighten her room!

Join us after Sunday service in the Fellowship Hall for some “together time!" The schedule for bringing in food items is shown below, so we invite you to bring snacks to share on “your” Sunday.

Fellowship (after Service) Donation Schedule:

Using the first letter of your last name, find the week that corresponds with your name. This will be the week for you to bring something to share with the rest of the community.

Also, we need volunteers to make coffee, hot water, and get the snacks out for Fellowship Sundays.

Envisioning Our Year - Vision Boards

River will lead the Sacred Women’s Circle in January in a Vision Board exercise for the New Year!

Come join us to share in creating your own personal vision board masterpieces. River uses vision boards as a creative tool within her practice for her clients. This is a wonderful way for people to get in touch with what is most important to them. We're looking forward to joining together to connect and share in our own personal self-discoveries as we journey through the path of a new year.

Project Details:

Bring your favorite magazines, 2022 artful calendars, and other graphic material such as old greeting cards. Also, your favorite pair of scissors, markers, stickers, and any other crafty embellishments you would like to add to your board.

• River will supply the poster board, as well as the glue sticks.

• Light snacks and drinks provided

• The project will take about an hour. This includes the creation and sharing of each participants Vision Boards.

River Hansen is a Psychotherapist in Private Practice in Colorado Springs. Her office is located in her Healing Arts Center at 716 North Tejon, downtown Colorado Springs. She has been in private practice for almost 25 years.
