FEBRUARY CELEBRATIONS
February is a month with many celebrations and we are happy to connect with our community surrounding them!

Lunar New Year
Happy New Year! It's the Year of the Tiger and our staff put together a reading list for kids for you. You might also be celebrating by making delicious food; here's a cookbook list to get your started.

Black History Month
February is Black History Month and we have a series of programs and activities planned to celebrate, including James Henry, Master Percussionist and Conversing in Verse: A Poetry Celebration of Black History Month. Valentines Day
How do you think libraries celebrate Valentines Day? With Library Lovers Month! And yes, you guessed it, we have a reading list for that. We also have a wide array of romance movies, eBooks, and more. Happy Valentine's Day!
EXPLORE A NEW YOU WITH LEARNING EXPRESS
We are back with our Explore a New You series. Through September 2022, RCPL cardholders have access to six top online learning platforms made available through the American Rescue Plan Act. Today we are highlighting Learning Express.

Learning Express has something for everyone! With this online resource, you can:
  • Find practice tests, tutorials, eBooks, articles and flashcards to help you prepare for the SAT, ACT and AP exams!
  • Improve academic skills, explore careers and prepare for college admissions tests and occupational exams.
  • Build workplace skills such as time management and effective communication.

STORIES OF INTERNMENT
Our Confronting History: Stories of Internment program series explores the World War II incarceration of Japanese Americans. We have events for families, teens and all ages. For more information and programs hosted by RCPL and our partner libraries, go here.

Dogs love to hear stories! Read to a specially trained dog provided by the Peninsula Humane Society. This program will take place over Zoom.

SAT FEB 5, 2pm
Tsikuli or God's Eyes are made by the Wixárika/Huichol of Western México in part to honor nature and for hopes of health, long life, and protection. Learn about the cultural tradition and create your own wall hanging version.

SAT FEB 12, 2pm
Middle school scientists explore different aspects of chemistry! This program is provided in partnership with the ACS.

SAT FEB 12, 3pm
Join these two award-winning authors as they discuss their writings based on the internment of people of Japanese ancestry during WWII. Part of the Confronting History: Stories of Internment series.

  • All Redwood City Public Library locations are open for restored hours and services. Visit our RCPL Limited Edition page for hours, services, safety guidelines, and more.
  • Curbside drop-in service for holds pick-up is available at the Downtown Library during open hours
  • Bookdrops are open to accept returns
  • Computers for public use are available at all locations
  • Our events are online and outside! Check our calendar here.
  • Meeting rooms at 25% capacity are open to the public, more information here.
  • Borrow eBooks and eAudiobooks; use streaming TV, movie, and music services; and access digital subscriptions to newspapers and magazines here.
  • Online resources are available to current card holders and new cardholders. Don't have a card? Sign up here
