Kids Expo Tomorrow!

Dear Stephanie,

I hope this message finds you well. It has been an eventful week in our community, filled with moments worth celebrating. One highlight that warmed our hearts was the joyous celebration of US Marine Helen Ehlers' 100th birthday. Helen, a remarkable WWII Woman Marine residing right here in Wheaton, played a vital role during the war by installing instrument panels for the planes that soared through the skies in defense of our nation. Semper Fi!

But the excitement doesn't stop there! I'm thrilled to remind everyone that tomorrow is the day for our annual Kids Expo, a day filled with fun and educational activities for the whole family. This event is free of charge and open to all. Head down to the Phillips Park Family Aquatic Center from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, where your children can explore various emergency vehicles and trucks up close. There will be face painting, a K9 unit demonstration, and even the landing of the Superior helicopter ambulance!

Read on for more updates from around the state and the district, and have a wonderful weekend.

P.S. Please reach out to our office if you need assistance at (630) 585-1308 or send me an email.

We Are Collecting Donations for the Annual "CUPS" Bra Drive!

My office is continuing its partnership as a collection site for the annual CUPS Bra Drive, which aims to provide undergarments to women in need.

The drive, initiated by Cynthia Gamboa-Morales, has collected thousands of bras since 2017 and supports women facing homelessness, domestic violence, sex trafficking, and refugee situations through reputable organizations.

Donors are encouraged to enclose bras in a bag and attach a note with the total number of bras donated to ensure safety and hygiene. Donations will be accepted at my office located at 1677 Montgomery Drive, #116 in Aurora.

IDPH Endorses CDC Recommendation for COVID-19 Shots that Target Current Strains

The Illinois Department of Public Health endorsed the recommendation by the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices for the newly FDA-approved COVID-19 shots for everyone over the age of 6 months.

The federal agencies have given the green light for updated mRNA vaccines developed by Moderna and Pfizer that target the currently circulating strains of the COVID-19 virus.

Studies have consistently shown that COVID-19 vaccines lower the risk of getting symptomatic COVID-19 and improve protection against serious illness, hospitalization, and death.
