One of our first big breaks came in 1999 when we convinced the HR Southwest conference to book him despite concerns about his name recognition. Nando’s keynote was unforgettable, and it caught the attention of SHRM, who soon booked him to speak alongside icons like Doris Kearns Goodwin, Gary Hamel, and General Norman Schwarzkopf. That moment launched a speaking career filled with highlights: keynotes at the Million Dollar Roundtable, IASB, NSA, the debut of his book Miracle in the Andes at #10 on the New York Times Bestseller list, and most recently the release of the Oscar-nominated Netflix film Society of the Snow.
But beyond the accolades, Nando’s impact is deeply personal. His message of family, friendship, resilience, and the power of the human spirit has touched people’s hearts around the globe and continues to transform lives. Watching him receive a standing ovation at the World Business Forum in NYC - a rare honor shared with speakers like President Bill Clinton - was a proud moment I’ll never forget.
