Celebrating Our 200th Issue of Soul Songs!
I just finished reading your 100th issue of Soul Songs (October 2013) and it is indeed wonderful. Your column and Catherineās are special and I loved seeing all the cards with words that people have sent in. You surely have created and continue to create a fresh and informative and creative newsletter!
When I created the first issue of Soul Songs in 2005, I wasnāt thinking about getting to 200 issues, or even 25 issues! I was simply driven by a deep soul-passion for SoulCollageĀ® and a stirring desire to bring it to the world at large.
In the building of KaleidoSoul, I just kept doing the next thing. I followed every resource that presented itself to me, and I sought out resources on my own. For me, the process of SoulCollageĀ®āfrom the very first card I madeāwas a huge lesson in trust. Melody Beattie, one of my favorite personal growth authors, once said:
I never know what the next lesson
is going to be,
because we're not supposed to know;
we're supposed to trust ourselves
to discover it.
This has been the greatest gift I've received these past 17 (!) years of creating KaleidoSoul and Soul Songs: I've learned to trust myself, to trust the process, and to trust that I am guided by Spirit and a multitude of archetypal guides who continually have my best interests at heart. I learned this firsthand from the actual process of making SoulCollageĀ® cards and from working with them. This trusting that the "right" images would be there and that the meanings would come clear in time, has amazingly overflowed into the other areas of my life.
It is my fervent hope and prayer that these monthly issues of Soul Songs lift you up and inspire you to deepen your knowing of yourself and the SoulCollageĀ® process. We wouldnāt have this newsletter without the tireless attention to detail that Kimee Doherty gives to the layout and creation of the look and feel of each issue. Also, our issues are given depth and gravity by a wide variety of experienced SoulCollageĀ® Facilitators and Trainers who contribute their thoughts and cards on the themes that are given.
With that in mind, thank you to our former contributors: Karen Mann, Imelda Maguire, Kat Kirby, Catherine Anderson, Ricia Fleming, Karen Regina, and Marti Beddoe, as well as to our current contributors: Linda Woolfson, Cat Caracelo, Michele Manos, and Michaela Daystar.
This month, in celebration of our 200th KaleidoSoul issue of Soul Songs, we are offering 10.00 off of our popular Kindred Spirits membership (SoulCollagers only!) with coupon code ILOVEME (all caps, no spaces) on this page. Our Kindred Spirits have 24/7 access to 180+ audios and videos soul-ly focused on SoulCollageĀ®, from Facilitators all over the world, plus lots more member benefits. This is a great month to join us!
From the depth of my creative heart to yours, I offer gratitude for your loyal following. Keep on SoulCollaging, keep on going within, keep on being true to yourselves, and keep on singing your own soul's songs,

Iām Linda Woolfson, MA, PhD, SoulCollageĀ® Trainer & Facilitator, writer, translator and creativity catalyst. As child I remember being fascinated by the phrase āstill small voice of calmā. The capacity to become still fertilises our wellbeing and our creativity. SoulCollageĀ® gives us a richly personal way to explore our relationship to Stillness.

Finding the Still Point with SoulCollageĀ®
|
Stillness is central to the alchemical process of setting up and settling into our SoulCollageĀ® practice. It can also be the starting point for some rich SoulCollageĀ® explorations.
Three years ago, who would have believed that in 2020, governments worldwide would order entire populations to withdraw from the world and stay at home? However challenging the enforced isolation of ālockdownā may have been, it came with a surprise gift we didnāt know weād been craving: stillness, whether in tantalizing glimpses or long stretches. Even for pracitioners of meditation and yoga, to bear witness to the noisy bustling of the outside world metamorphosing suddenly into quiet and near-silence was new and deeply soothingāas if the precious atmosphere of a SoulCollageĀ® workshop had spread out into the world at large!
One of the deep benefits of SoulCollageĀ® is that our practice both depends on and extends our experience of stillness. We SoulCollagers know the meaning of Eckhart Tolleās words, āWisdom comes with the ability to be still.ā We all know and love the special quality of the stillness that falls when we listen to each other consulting our cards. We know also, as Rumi reminds us, that āthe quieter you become, the more you are able to hear.ā How could our Neters speak their truth to us without a protective, attentive atmosphere of stillness? It is intrinsic to our SoulCollageĀ® practice both to welcome and to cultivate stillness, so that we can better hear each other and ourselves, and more fully cocoon ourselves in the stillness so conducive to a strong creative flow.
Stillness is an essential background element to SoulCollageĀ®, and a key ingredient in the alchemical process of creating a fertile space for our SoulCollageĀ® practice. However, we may also wish to spend some time putting Stillness in the foreground, so that we can feel and experience our SoulCollageĀ® practice more fully. If so, there are many lovely ways we can do this.
We may wish to engage creatively with the many different qualities of stillness: the sublime stillness of a sunset over a glass-smooth lake, the blissful moment in the home when the crying baby finally settles, even the disconcerting dankness of a stagnant pond, or the mystery of a quiet starlit sky. All of these may be full of potential for our SoulCollageĀ® explorations.
We may also want to explore our own relationship to stillness. Several years ago, I intuitively created a SoulCollageĀ® card which revealed much to me about my productivity-driven tendency:
|
Hovering, Committee Suit
I am one who hovers between wanting to be still and refusing stillness. I would love to relax but am reluctant to spend time journeying into my inner world when I could be smashing through my to-do list. I am one finds it challenging to surrender.
Or we may want to explore through SoulCollageĀ® how we might experience stillness more completely. How can we encourage ourselves to pay fuller attention to the quality of our still times? To become more sensitive to the layers of stillness which are there for us to experience if we wish? I find it helpful to have a card in my deck to remind me that experiencing stillness can be transformative:
|
Presence, Council Suit
I am one who has been sent to you by ancient people full of wisdom and deep knowing about your place in your world and beyond. I remind you that you have the capacity to ground yourself, breathe deeply, straighten your back, and connect body and soul by falling into deep and sacred stillness.
Another idea is to look at your whole deck. Whisper āstillnessā to yourself as you look at your cards one by one. What connections to stillness are in your deck already, perhaps without you having noticed them?
You may find some intriguing surprises. You may also find that thereās not enough stillness in your deck, in which case you can enjoy throwing yourself in to creating more! Or, as you mull over your cards, you may wish to enhance your experience further by sinking into the paradox of stillness expressed so powerfully by TS Eliot:
Except for the point, the still point,
There would be no dance, and there is only the dance.
