Are you ready to change a life today?

Fellowship Square has been working for nearly 65 years to improve the lives of older adults who struggle to make ends meet by providing them with affordable housing and supportive services. Our incredible team works diligently to ensure the seniors living in our Fellowship Houses not only have a safe community to live in, but can lead fulfilling, happy, and enriching lives too.

As we embark on new challenges and work to create new opportunities for our residents, we need your financial assistance! Join our effort by supporting our 2025 Annual Campaign.

Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution of $100, $250, $500, or any amount you can afford to help us maintain the quality housing we are known for, put food on the tables of 800+ seniors, and help them get through life’s daily struggles.

Please consider making your contribution securely online today by clicking here.

If you’ve donated before, thank you for your trust and belief in the work we do for our residents. If you are a new donor, thank you for believing in our mission. We truly appreciate your financial support.

Thank you!

Your Donation Changes a Life

A sense of purpose in life has shown to decrease with older age. Retiring, losing a spouse, or experiencing a chronic condition can contribute to a decreased sense of purpose. This can lead to negative effects on one’s health such as depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts. As we age, social connections become more important to help us maintain a healthy life and a positive outlook. Many older adults face barriers to developing and maintaining quality social networks and relationships – but not at Fellowship House. Research from the University of Chicago shows that senior living communities promote healthy aging, including helping seniors build relationships to reduce loneliness and isolation.

Since we opened our first apartment building in 1970, Fellowship Square has built communities that promote and encourage interconnectedness among the older adults that live there. For the last 15 years we have expanded our programs, services, and activities to fill the monthly calendars with numerous health and wellness events. Residents can look forward to parties and social gatherings, arts and crafts activities, and weekly bus trips for both errands and cultural outings.

We recently kicked off our 2025 ANNUAL CAMPAIGN – the main source of funds that help us to create a vibrant and engaging environment where older adults can thrive. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to support our work. We rely on contributions from people like you to ensure we have the funds to cover emergency expenses, healthy aging programs, nutritious foods, and transportation for all Fellowship House residents. Independent living doesn’t mean they are alone – please support Fellowship Square with your most generous tax-deductible donation. Thank you.

In gratitude,

Thank you to American Healthcare Professionals for taking the time to present at Hunters Woods.

Welcome Margaret!

Volunteer & Communications Manager

Margaret graduated from Rutgers University, where she studied Public Health and Journalism & Media Studies. After being evacuated from the Peace Corps in Mozambique due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she moved to D.C. to pursue a Master of Public Health degree at George Washington University.

Margaret’s professional career began as a research assistant on a study aimed at identifying how different nursing home models affect residents’ health. The study, which lasted two years and included three different nursing homes, assessed how person-centered care and “household-model” nursing homes improve outcomes for those with dementia and depression. Margaret has a diverse professional background, with experience in gerontology research, community health outreach, HIV prevention, and international demographic and health survey management.

In her free time, Margaret enjoys going to concerts, swimming, and watching movies.

Empowering Others Through Kindness

Ivana Uzunic Celebrated for 600+ Hours of Service with Fellowship Square

In a ceremony at Hunters Woods Fellowship House, Ivana Uzunic was presented with an award for her 609 hours of service to Hunters Woods’ residents. Ivana received the highest honor, the President’s Volunteer Service Gold Award, which is presented in partnership with AmeriCorps and Points of Light.

Ivana’s philosophy is simple - “the more you do for others, the more satisfied you are with yourself”, she says. Ivana was drawn to volunteer at Fellowship Square’s Hunters Woods Fellowship House because of her background as a health professional, which reminds her that kindness and support can improve outcomes for those in need.

Hunters Woods Fellowship House residents can find Ivana organizing healthy food options through Fellowship Fresh or preparing for Tuesday Music Café, which fosters community through music, singing, and dancing. Between her many hours of organizing and supporting Fellowship Square programming, Ivana has gained more than awards and recognition. She’s gained friendship from staff and residents, motivation to continue her community service, and even Chinese and Korean language skills!

Ivana encourages those interested in volunteer service with organizations like Fellowship Square to get involved and remember that volunteering will impact not just those you serve, but those who serve.
