Caps Off to Our Graduates
The end of the school year brings one of our most treasured traditions at Green Chimneys: celebrating our students as they transition to exciting new chapters. In June we honored our eighth graders preparing for high school, and lauded our graduating seniors taking their next step toward adulthood. These milestones represent more than just academic progress, they show the remarkable social and emotional growth our students achieve.
These accomplishments wouldn't be possible without the Green Chimneys community. Our dedicated staff provide individualized guidance and expertise every step of the way. Equally important is the unwavering support of our students' families, who are true partners in this journey.
We invite our entire community to join us in congratulating these young people as they begin their next adventure. See the celebrations on Facebook >

New Feathered Friends
Did you hear the latest? Our Wildlife Center has new arrivals from the Bronx Zoo! We're excited to share that after a few years without one in residence, a one-year-old female Kookaburra has come to live at Green Chimneys. Students will love learning about this distinctive Australian bird famous for its laughing call. We also welcomed four peahens who are settling into their new enclosure. They spent their zoo life as free-range birds and are quite accustomed to people so once acclimated, they will roam our campus with the rest of our flock. Thank you to our Bronx Zoo partner! Plan your visit to the Farm & Wildlife Center and see our newest residents >

Lightning Strike Leads to Rescue
Lightning struck an osprey nest on a utility pole early last Wednesday morning in Rye, killing one fledging bird and leaving another injured on the road nearby. The young osprey was transported to our Wildlife Center and x-rays from our raptor vet showed it sustained a broken clavicle. Wildlife Manager Dave Spillo shared that the bird is likely male and about two months old. It will spend the next few weeks recovering before we hope to release it back near its old nest.
