To celebrate our school leaders, we are highlighting a principal each week during National Principal's Month. This week, we are shining a light on the principal of Ridgeland Elementary School, Ms. Renata Johnson-Green.
Principal Green has been leading RES for 9 years. She is known for her dedication and thoughtfulness. She bestows a great deal of time and support upon the students, staff members and parents of her school. She effortlessly carries the weight of the responsibility.
Knowing the importance of a solid education, Ms. Green attended several reputable schools:
- South Carolina State University – Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education,
- Grand Canyon University – Master of Arts in Teaching,
- Converse College – Gifted and Talented Endorsement,
- Northcentral University – Masters of Education in Educational Leadership,
- Grand Canyon University – Masters of Education in Education Administration.
Principal Green served as a teacher (second, fourth, & fifth grade) for 10 years before becoming a principal. She also worked as a Math Coach for two years and as a principal in another district for two years. Throughout her career, she has earned numerous awards and completed several programs: Teacher of the Year (twice), Leadership Academy Participant, Principal Induction Program, Honorary Member of the Junior National Young Leaders Conference, iLead (SCASA Leadership Training), SCASA Board Member 2022-2025, SCASA President of the Elementary Affiliates 2022 - 2023, SCASA Elementary Principals' Executive Committee 2022 - 2025, 4.0 Evaluator, & Palmetto Silver Award Winning School.
Under her leadership, Ridgeland Elementary School's Report Card Rating has advanced from At-Risk/Unsatisfactory to Average. Also, RES is a Points of Light - Blue Ribbon School of Excellence!!
