Celebrating Our Leaders, National Principal's Month

To celebrate our school leaders, we are highlighting a principal each week during National Principal's Month. This week, we are shining a light on the principal of Ridgeland Elementary School, Ms. Renata Johnson-Green.

Principal Green has been leading RES for 9 years. She is known for her dedication and thoughtfulness. She bestows a great deal of time and support upon the students, staff members and parents of her school. She effortlessly carries the weight of the responsibility.

Knowing the importance of a solid education, Ms. Green attended several reputable schools:

  • South Carolina State University – Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education,
  • Grand Canyon University – Master of Arts in Teaching,
  • Converse College – Gifted and Talented Endorsement,
  • Northcentral University – Masters of Education in Educational Leadership,
  • Grand Canyon University – Masters of Education in Education Administration.

Principal Green served as a teacher (second, fourth, & fifth grade) for 10 years before becoming a principal. She also worked as a Math Coach for two years and as a principal in another district for two years. Throughout her career, she has earned numerous awards and completed several programs: Teacher of the Year (twice), Leadership Academy Participant, Principal Induction Program, Honorary Member of the Junior National Young Leaders Conference, iLead (SCASA Leadership Training), SCASA Board Member 2022-2025, SCASA President of the Elementary Affiliates 2022 - 2023, SCASA Elementary Principals' Executive Committee 2022 - 2025, 4.0 Evaluator, & Palmetto Silver Award Winning School.

Under her leadership, Ridgeland Elementary School's Report Card Rating has advanced from At-Risk/Unsatisfactory to Average. Also, RES is a Points of Light - Blue Ribbon School of Excellence!!

Principal Green regularly repeats her favorite quote from Dr. Martin Luther King:

Let's Get Educated, Renewing the Penny

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with The Penny Plan to support Jasper County School Projects!

Projected Annual Revenue Generated for Jasper County Schools Projects Funding:

  • $8,450,000 per year increasing 1% per year through 2040
  • A significant portion of sales taxes in Jasper County are paid by non-residents
  • Under the plan, debt service millage in the School District will not increase.

A "YES" vote will:

● Continue generating revenue for critical school facility projects.

● Help fund the construction and renovation of educational buildings without raising property taxes.

● Ensure we provide safe and modern learning environments for our students.

A "NO" vote will require the School District to find other funding sources (such as increased property taxes) to pay for capital improvements
