Quassy Cares Gives Back with Several Summer Initiatives
Hundreds of college and high school students working at Quassy Amusement and Waterpark here help provide memorable experiences to guests on a daily basis during the height of the summer season. Some of the same staff members have also been making a difference in local and area communities through a park-sponsored initiative titled Quassy Cares. The toy drive at Quassy was set up this summer through the Connecticut Recreation and Parks Association (CRPA) in Newington as well as Christmas Wish CT, a charity committed to sharing the spirit of Christmas 365 days a year. Quassy Cares joined the campaign and for each toy brought in by a park employee, Quassy Amusement and Waterpark will match the contribution. The lakeside property, now in its 111 th year, has also assisted at local soup kitchens in the past, helping to provide meals for those in need. This spring the family-owned business also put together a service cart which occasionally cruises along the Middlebury Greenway, a leisure trail where the electrified trolley line that serviced the park in its early days once stood. Quassy employs help pick up any debris found along the paved greenway and dispose of it. Quassy Amusement Park boasts more than two dozen rides and attractions, waterparks, redemption arcade, games, live entertainment and more. Season passes are on sale now at the park office and through the Quassy website at www.quassy.com ! Company picnics, school and summer camp fieldtrips and other catered events are also being scheduled through the park office at (203) 758-2913.

Wisdom House Spiritual Retreat & Conference Center In Litchfield Hosting Interactive Photo Exhibit
The interfaith Wisdom House Spiritual Retreat and Conference Center at 229 East Litchfield Road in East Litchfield is hosting a distinctive interactive photo exhibit, “The Enduring Presence of Wisdom: A Celebration of the Daughters of Wisdom for 70 Years” through August 17. Viewers of this exhibit can download an App to their smartphone to hear personal audio short stories spoken by several of the contemporary Daughters of Wisdom nuns who were trained as novices at the former Wisdom House convent and are shown in group and individual photos. The stories provide engaging insights into the past 70 years, the present and future of the order of Daughters of Wisdom ministries.

The order originated in 18th Century France and in 1949 founded the U.S. Province with the purchase of 100 acres of a former farm for a Novitiate and Convent. The exhibit highlights the history of Wisdom House over the past 70 years from 1949 forward. For exhibit hours and information, visit www.wisdomhouse.org , call 860-567-3163, or email to programs@wisdomhouse.org .
Right Now is the Best Time to Order Your Residential Solar System With Sun Nerds
These are the final days to take advantage of the Connecticut Greenbank solar rebate. For most homeowners, this rebate will reduce the system cost around $4,000. Also, the federal Investment-tax-credit (30%), will be reduced January 1, 2020. For 2019 orders, that means homeowners will enjoy an average of around $12,000 help from the government to add solar to their homes. This combination will not be offered again! Sun Nerds Solar Brokers will shop the market for the best package and present their findings to you. Please take advantage of the Chamber Member-Exclusive $300 coupon which is good until September 1, 2019. One option for those who qualify is a solar loan with zero down and monthly payments that are often lower than your existing utility bill. Once your Sun Nerds system is turned on, expect utility bills as low as $9.44 per month. Please contact member Rod Ferguson at 860-888-9698.
