Waterbury Youth Services Child Advocacy Center
Waterbury Youth Services invited local officials and guests to a ribbon cutting ceremony at their center at 83 Prospect Street, Waterbury to commemorate the historic transition of Waterbury Youth Services’ Greater Waterbury Child Abuse Interdisciplinary Team to a full-fledged Child Advocacy Center on October 16th. The new medical space that was recently built out allows the team to conduct forensic medical exams onsite--one of the key developments that now qualifies them as a Child Advocacy Center. Waterbury Youth Services is grateful to MacDermid Solutions for their support of this project. A Taste of Hope (November 7)
The American Cancer Society’s A Taste of Hope , an evening of wine tastings, food pairings, and philanthropy, is set to take place Thursday, November 7 at 6 p.m. at The Society Room in Hartford.
Greater Hartford residents, business professionals and leaders are invited to attend a memorable evening and special presentation honoring Jeffrey A. Flaks, president and chief executive officer of Hartford HealthCare for his commitment to integrated health care and dedication to access to care throughout the region. 

The event will also feature a unique live auction experience, Hands Up For Hope. Proceeds from this auction will benefit local American Cancer Society’s patient programs and services including free transportation for patients at risk of missing lifesaving appointments at area cancer centers and free or reduced-cost lodging for residents traveling out of state for treatment.

Join Foxwoods Resort Casino in honoring the active duty Military and veterans in their 10th Annual Veterans Day Parade. Parade starts at 11 AM and will follow into a ceremony.

Access Health CT to Host Enrollment Fairs Across CT
Access Health CT has set up 23—and counting—enrollment fairs across the state from November through December.  
The fairs will feature on-site staff from Access Health CT who will be available to answer questions and assist attendees in enrolling in quality, affordable healthcare coverage. In addition, certified brokers will be on-hand to provide plan recommendations.

Southmayd Home Debuts Resident Tech Room
Thanks to a generous grant from the Connecticut Community Foundation, Southmayd Home opened its new technology room to residents in October. Equipped with large keyboard iPads, two workstations and a comfortable reading chair, the room is available to residents for internet access to gather information, Skype and email, play games and check medical portals. Holy Cross High School students will help train residents on the iPads and assist them in exploring opportunities. “I am thankful to Connecticut Community Foundation,” said Executive Director Kara Cunningham. “The grant provides an added benefit to everyday resident life that we were unable to provide before.”

Acts 4 Ministry Seeking Winter Coats & Accessories Donations for Children & Adults
Acts 4 Ministry Inc., a non-denominational, non-profit charitable organization, is seeking donations of new or gently-worn coats, hats, gloves, scarves, sweatshirts, and new socks, thermals, and undergarments for children and adults. Acts 4 Ministry Executive Director Sarah Carabetta Recipient of Coveted Community Impact Award
Sarah Carabetta is recipient of the 2019 Sacred Heart High School’s Reverend John Meaney Community Impact Award which recognizes the leadership commitment of an individual(s) or organization that has had a strong impact on the greater Waterbury community through serving the needs of others.
Widely-known throughout the region as a visionary leader, Carabetta joyfully shares her love for God and ministry with her strong civic contributions and her desire to serve residents in need. She has worked as the executive director of Acts 4 Ministry for seven years, elevating the organization’s platform through her marketing, fund-raising and project management background. The non-profit assists people who have suddenly lost their homes to a fire, flood or other unexpected devastation or upsetting life event by providing them with the basics of daily living needs.
