Central Health Uniform To Host Grand Opening of Waterbury Store November 10

Central Health Uniform will host a Grand Opening of their new medical scrubs, uniforms, accessories, footwear for women and men store at 201 Thomaston Avenue in Waterbury on Wednesday, November 10 at 2:00 PM. “We truly are a one-stop shop,” states Nicole McCullough, owner. “We carry some of the best fitting, high quality made uniforms and scrubs available today, and in a variety of colors and styles for every season, and many at discount prices.”

A member of the Waterbury Regional Chamber for the past year, Central Health Uniform offers a popular on-site Mobile Scrub Store that is driven to area nursing homes, hospitals or rehabilitation centers for staff members to shop before or after their work shifts. Charter Oak State College to Host Two Virtual Open Houses: Nov. 9 and Nov. 17
Charter Oak State College, CT’s only public online college, will host two different virtual events for interested students. The first is on Tuesday, November 9 at 5:30 for RNs who are interested in pursuing their BSN. If you have an active RN license and are seeking a trusted online educational partner to earn your Bachelor of Science in Nursing, our program has been created with you in mind. Join Program Director Linda Perfetto, PhD, RN, CNE, CNOR, FAADN to learn about our program and how to enroll. Have all your questions answered! And apply for free that night.


The second virtual Open House, on Wednesday, November 17 at 5:30, is for anyone interested in pursuing a graduate degree in Health Care Administration, Health Informatics or Organizational Effectiveness and Leadership. Join Dr. Brooke Palkie, Program Director; Dr. Thomas Barron, Program Director; Lori Gagne Pendleton, Admissions Director; and Andrew Selig, Associate Director of Admissions for more information on these leadership master’s degrees.

Consider joining Literacy Volunteers of Greater Waterbury at Amalfi's Restaurant on Wednesday, November 10 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. for a delicious, hot meal, all for only $10! Literacy volunteers will make a profit of $5 from each ticket sold, which will help cover the cost of materials for their Adult Literacy Program.

November 13: Toys for Joy Turkey Shoot at Oxford Greens
On Saturday, November 13, The Golf Club at Oxford Greens will host their 6th Annual Toys For Joy Turkey Shoot. This tournament is Alliance Management’s annual corporate fundraiser. The company will host the tournament at all of their courses on the same day of the year, charge a low entry fee, and request a new toy donation from each player as well. All of the toys are handed out to local Connecticut families over the holidays in partnership with the YMCA!

Greater Waterbury Interfaith Ministries, Inc. Hunger Walk
From now until November 23, 2021, our friends, associates, board members, and GWIM fundraising committee members will seek to have people in our community sponsor their individual efforts to walk a total of 5 miles to help the hungry. Walkers will post videos of their walking on the GWIM website and the GWIM Hunger Walk Facebook page. Lisa Antel of Post University Named a Hartford Business Journal's Healthcare Hero Award Winner
Lisa Antel, who serves as the Post University Counseling Center Director, was recently named a 2021 HealthCare Hero Award winner by the Hartford Business Journal.

Q: Why is she a HealthCare Hero?
The confluence of COVID, racial traumas, political divisions and uncertainty have significantly impacted college students. In response, Antel promotes a holistic approach to wellness and champions its integration into Post’s culture.

Known for her compassionate style, Antel has been a driving force for the University’s most significant mental health initiatives, including You@Post, the university’s online wellness and success platform, and Student Online Assistance Resource (SOAR), an online platform providing 24/7 access to counseling, financial resources, legal support and personal convenience services.
