Connecticut Ranked 5th Best State to Buy Solar System
Connecticut is ranked #1 most expensive state for energy, it does not charge sales tax for a solar system, does not increase property tax when a solar system is added, it enjoys one of the best rebates whereas many states have none, its home buyers rank “energy efficiency” as #2 most important, electricity prices are expected to continue to rise about 4% a year and Connecticut homes with solar included, sell faster and for more.

Remember, all chamber members can use the Sun Nerds $300 coupon on the chamber web site. With the state rebate expiring soon and the Federal Investment-tax-credit of 30% reducing in January, it makes sense to get a free solar proposal now.

Annie C. Courtney Foundation's Star of the Month: Directline Media's Dave Chimelewski
Star of the Month is awarded to someone making an outstanding difference in the lives of children in foster care on behalf of Annie C. Courtney Foundation's community collaborative. The collaborative for foster care is called Foster, Adoptive Kinship Coalition Team. It is comprised of over 24 agencies, both for profit and non-profit. When Annie C Courtney Foundation had the idea to make a foster care music video to bring in more foster families the original idea was simple: find a song, make a parody, and record the video. Dave Chmielewski of Directline Media gladly took on the challenge. Knowing that the budget was quite limited, Dave put out the word to his colleagues about the need for volunteers. He gathered a dedicated group of talented men to direct, run camera, decorate the set and perform the thousand and one tasks necessary for a production of this kind. Matt Terribile gathered a group of talented teens from the Wallingford area to record the song. He located a talented lead singer, Johnny Silvestri, who agreed to record the vocals and starred in the video production. Working with Dave and Matt has been one of the best experiences as a collaborative. We are incredibly grateful to Dave and Matt for their hard work, patience, and dedication. We could not have had a better duo to work with. They are our heroes and Stars of the Month!

Tidal Wave to Roll into Quassy for 2020 Season
Quassy Amusement & Waterpark’s ship is about to come in! The lakeside property will introduce Tidal Wave, a thrilling family ride that incorporates a huge clipper-like themed vessel suspended on a swinging pendulum that soars more than 30 feet into the air. “We’re certainly excited about bringing this new attraction in for next season,” said Quassy President Eric Anderson. “It will replace the Pirate ship, which has been at the park since our centennial in 2008.” Currently being built by SBF/Visa Group in Italy, Tidal Wave will have a capacity of 32 persons with eight rows of bench seats to accommodate up to four guests each. As the ship swings back-and-forth, it gains momentum and height, creating the sensation of weightlessness at its highest point. The colorful attraction will also feature a state-of-the-art LED (light emitting diode) lighting system that will illuminate the ride towers and pendulum as well as the entrance area. “Our other new rides installed in recent years all have LEDs and we’ve added the computerized lights to a number of other existing rides and attractions in the park,” Anderson said of the energy-savingfixtures. Quassy Amusement Park & Waterpark is in its 111th year and features more than two dozen rides and attractions. Season passes are on sale now at the park office and through the Quassy website at Company picnics, school fieldtrips and other catered events are also being scheduled through the park office at (203) 758-2913.
