Happy Veterans Day
In recognition of National Veterans Day tomorrow, November 11th, we are honoring all of our team members who have served or are currently serving in the military. Thank you for your service to our country, and thank you to your families and friends as well for the sacrifices they make. We are so grateful for all you do for our country, and we are so proud to have you on our team.
Casella Construction Veterans
Thank you to all our Veterans who have submitted their photos over the past few years. We honor you today, and every day.
Congrats, Jon!
October Good Catch Winner of the Month
Jon Mann was driving southbound in Schuyler Falls on 22B at 45 mph when he noticed a powerline hanging about windshield height from one side of the road to the other. The line was barely visible on the Samsara footage:
Jon safely brought the truck to a quick stop, missing contact with the line by a foot or two. Jon was able to back out of the dangerous situation, and safely get around.
Excellent work, Jon! Thank you for keeping an eye out for safety!

2022 Holiday Party
Save the Date!
We are excited to announce the return of our annual Casella Construction Holiday Party! While we had hoped to bring the party back last year, Covid had other plans. This year however, we fully anticipate celebrating the holidays together as a team once again. So, mark your calendars, we're looking forward to a great party to make up for the past couple of years.
See you there!

Safety Topic: Daylight Saving Time
Daylight Saving Time can affect you and your environment more than you might realize. By moving the clocks back an hour, there are several factors that will change and can create potential hazards such as:
  • Running late for work due to clocks not being reset, causing you to speed and possibly getting into an accident. Do not attempt to finish getting ready for work while you are driving.
  • The difference in daylight when driving to and from work could cause wildlife to be more active during the hours you commute.
  • Insufficient sleep due to our internal clocks needing to adjust. This could cause lapses in judgement or inattention to hazards on the job.
  • Avoid operating heavy equipment, machinery, or power tools if you are drowsy. Your reaction time is reduced when you are fatigued.
Please understand that other people may not adjust the same way as you. If you observe a co-worker who appears fatigued, stressed or anxious, encourage them to stop the task and take a break.
Can you answer a question related to this week's safety discussion?
Why was Daylight Saving Time originally introduced?
To reduce work-related accidents
To conserve energy
To give people more daylight for recreation
To give farmers more daylight during planting season
