Celebrating Public Works and

Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

Professionals This Week

We are taking the time this week to recognize two critical teams serving our Village. We take this opportunity, because too often, everyday actions that make our community better, healthier and safer go unnoticed.

National Public Works Week

Please thank a Public Works employee the next time you see them. They accomplish so much of the behind the scenes work that keeps this Village humming.

This past year our team:

  • Collected 3,815 tons of solid waste
  • Recycled 43 tons of food scraps, 3,132 tons of leaves and organics, 415 tons of metal, and 688.35 tons of paper
  • Paved 1.92 miles of roadway (in addition to the 3.92 miles paved by Con Ed)
  • Planted 30 new street trees
  • Re-lined 466 feet of sanitary sewer pipe
  • Responded to8 major snow storms using approximately 1,000 tons of salt to keep the roads clear
  • Repaired nine major water main issues (not including service line work)

We are so grateful to this hard working crew for all that they do to serve the community.

National Emergency Medical Services Week

The Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps is comprised of a combination of volunteers and paid professionals and has been serving the Tarrytown community since 1967.

Last year they :

  • Received 1,374 requests for assistance, 92% of which were within Tarrytown borders
  • Transported 1,004 patients to local hospitals
  • Treated a patient as young as 9 days old and a patient as old as 102 years old, and everything in between
  • Participated in Tarrytown public events to raise awareness and taught CPR classes

Thank you so much to our Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps team for all that they do to keep us healthy and safe! Go to their website to learn how to volunteer or donate to their organization.

Congratulations to Kassandra Christie and Cristian Perez for winning a 2025 County Lifesaving Award for their treatment of patient in cardiac arrest who was able to recover and return to their life without any additional deficits.
