Celebrating Read Across America at CCS

Students, staff, faculty, and community members took part in D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) to celebrate Read Across America Day and National Reading Month. Launched in 1998 by the National Education Association (NEA) and guided by a committee of educators, NEA’s Read Across America is the nation’s largest celebration of reading. CHS AFJROTC student's leadership skills soar

A Carrollton High School JROTC student who mentors fellow cadets as a flight instructor has completed the solo phase toward his own private pilot license - and he's only a sophomore. Aiden Momtahan, who has successfully flown countless hours in a commercial flight simulator, hopes to become a commercial airline pilot and will soon receive his private pilot license.

Thirteen Carrollton City Schools students have been named district-level winners in the Young Georgia Authors Writing Competition and have advanced to the regional contest.

CHS student wins Congressional App Challenge

For the fifth consecutive year, a student from Carrollton High School has been selected as a winner in the 2022 Congressional App Challenge, an initiative of the U.S. House of Representatives to encourage middle and high school students to learn to code and consider pursuing careers in computer science.

CJHS film students win RESA Competition

Two groups in the video production class at Carrollton Junior High School participated in the West Georgia RESA Film Competition and won best picture. Amelia Beasley, Leah Krebbs, Mary Nguyen, and Roxye Whitehead won for their work "Bullying in Time" and Lylah Hendley, Liam McKinnon, and Lucy Slappey won for their work "You Never Know What Someone's Going Through." The students will now participate in the state film contest March 30 in Columbus. To watch the films, click HERE.

Six CHS students named Governor's Honors semi-finalists

Six Carrollton High School students who were nominated to compete at the state level for Governor’s Honors have cleared the next hurdle by being named semi-finalists. 


The Governor’s Honors Program, known as GHP, is a four-week residential summer program for gifted and talented rising high school juniors and seniors. Students who attend public, private, and home schools are eligible for nomination in one of 20 subject areas.

Ben Scott Sports Auction two weeks away!

The Ben Scott Sports Auction is Friday, March 17 at the University of West Georgia Coliseum. All proceeds go towards the Carrollton High School Athletic Booster Club. The money will be used for awards, camps and clinics, meals for athletes, new equipment and uniforms, letterman jackets, etc. Tickets are $100 which admits two people. Tickets can be purchased HERE.

Scholarship application window closes MONDAY, March 6

The Carrollton City Schools Education Scholarship applications are now open! Each year, seniors at Carrollton High School can apply for any of the foundation’s scholarships that are awarded in the spring. To learn more or apply, click HERE.
