Read Across America Week, celebrated in early March, encourages children to develop a love for reading, coinciding with Dr. Seuss’s birthday on March 2. This week is a great opportunity for parents to inspire a lifelong passion for reading. Studies show that reading boosts children’s development, including language, thinking, and social/emotional skills, and plays a key role in academic and lifelong success.

Designed for children age five and their families and caregivers, FamilySpace provides safe and fun spaces for kids to play and learn, and for their families to come together to share information and hear about helpful, free services that are available to them.


Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free, high-quality books to children from birth to age five, no matter their family's income. Sign up here.

The Cuyahoga County Library provides an endless supply of reading opportunities for young readers, as well as programs for families. Try the 1,000 books before kindergarten challenge, the Kid's Cafe free afterschool meal program, and the free Summer Lunch program.
