Dear Team DPS,
With School Bus Drivers Appreciation Day, Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week, and National Administrative Professionals Day happening this week, I’d like to celebrate and recognize our school bus drivers, afterschool professionals and administrative professionals for the roles you all play in supporting brighter futures for all our students. Your continuous commitment to elevating the student experience within DPS allows our students to maximize their potential and sets them up for post-graduate success. Thank you for being an invaluable part of the DPS family.
Tuesday, April 25 is School Bus Drivers Appreciation Day! Our school bus drivers truly are the backbone of Denver Public Schools. You ensure that our students get to school safely and help make our school buses a friendly and welcoming environment. Our families trust you to get their children home. Your dedication to safely transporting students to their future truly embodies our vision of Every Child Succeeds. This responsibility should not be taken for granted, and I truly appreciate your efforts in giving students access to our schools.
Please join me in celebrating Afterschool Professionals Appreciation week and thanking the Extended Learning and Community Schools (ELCS) team, which includes more than 300 staff members, for their dedication to Out of School Time programming. From their flagship program, Discovery Link, to ELCS Enrichment, Middle School Programming at DMLK, and now ELCSports, this team supports DPS students, families and communities during these crucial times of the day. Thank you ELCS for the role you play for DPS! Your efforts ensure our students and families have a safe and welcoming space during Out of School Time, while also enjoying engaging and impactful experiences in your programs. Read more about the ELCS team here.
Wednesday, April 26 is National Administrative Professionals Day! Our administrative professionals do so much to keep our schools and offices running smoothly. Although your efforts may sometimes go unnoticed, your contributions are critical to the success of our students and staff. Whether it is through planning meetings, budgeting, organizing events, or the countless other tasks you take on a daily basis, you are the unsung heroes of our schools and offices. Please join me in sharing your gratitude for these amazing members of Team DPS.
I am grateful for the hard work that our school bus drivers, afterschool professionals and administrative professionals do everyday to help our students achieve success. Your efforts do not go unrecognized, and I am thankful to have you as part of Team DPS.
In Collaboration,
Dr. Alex Marrero
