DECEMBER 14, 2025

As 2025 ends, your gift can bring food, care, and hope to those who need it most. Make your year-end donation by December 31 to support mental health for teens, guidance for families, and care for seniors—every dollar matters!

At the last board meeting of 2025, we celebrated long time JFS board members who completed their terms: Beth Cutler (not pictured), Pam Liflander, Debbie Rosmarin, Barbara Salop, and Sandy Soule.

Each of these women have given extensive time and energy to support JFS and strengthen our mission. We are grateful for their dedication and the impact they have made during their service.

Thank you, Beth, Pam, Debbie, Barbara, and Sandy, for your commitment to JFS!

JFS was honored to join this year’s Light the World Celebration, sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Along with 60 local interfaith organizations and nonprofits, JFS worked toward a shared goal: bringing hope and help to children across the New York metro area this holiday season.

Thanks to this incredible initiative, we’re able to provide local families with food and warm clothing when they need it most. We are deeply grateful for the support that makes a real difference.

JFS had the pleasure of participating in the Wallace Center’s Coffee and Conversation series. Our team members - Beth Jabick, Jan Mittleman, and Daniela Valdovinos - shared valuable information about Behavioral Health Services, Older Adult Services, and volunteer opportunities at JFS.

We were also delighted to connect with Tania Parrent, Program Specialist at the Wallace Center, who joined Jan and Daniela in the photo. It was a wonderful morning of engaging dialogue, community connection!

Employee Spotlight: Darly Mervius, Case Manager, Norwich

Darly Mervius brings deep compassion and purpose to her work in our Norwich office. Inspired by her faith and a lifelong calling to serve, Darly views her work as more than a career. “I believe God gives each of us gifts, and mine is empathy and the desire to serve,” she shares. Every day, she is motivated by the knowledge that she is helping families stabilize and achieve their goals. For Darly, seeing lives restored and hope renewed is a reminder that her work fulfills the calling to serve others with compassion, dignity, and love.

Clients feel that commitment firsthand: “My family and I were going through a very difficult moment. Darly helped us apply for assistance, school enrollment, and community programs. She cares about families. She truly wants people to succeed.”
