On October 28th, the Gratitude and Giving Gala returned to Okotoks for another year, supporting the Foothills Country Hospice annual operations. We were delighted to host 305 wonderful guests, many wearing captivating masks for the Mystical Masquerade theme. The evening started with welcoming words from Leslie Horton of Global News, setting the tone for an evening of compassion and generosity.
Appetizing charcuterie cups were ready for guests upon arrival as Highwood Catering prepared a delicious meal of rosemary chicken and prime rib, followed by delicious desserts from Ginger and Spice Cakery. The event came alive as Rob Bergevin, our enthusiastic Foothills Auctioneer, led an exciting live auction. Music appearance by High Steppin' Daddy brought crowds onto the dance floor, and Miles Display added a fun and moody backdrop for some unique photo opportunities.
Incredible stories and a wealth of opportunities for giving, including the wish wall, silent auction, live auction, wine tower, and the unique Carendo Shower Chair crowdfunding initiative, made the evening truly special. Though the final tally of funds is in progress, the overwhelming generosity shown through various ways of giving promises a significant contribution towards our annual operations budget of $1.3 million.
Beyond fundraising, the night was marked by touching moments and impactful speeches. Our hearts were moved by Allison Bichel, our Board Chair, and David Gilbert, the Capital Campaign Co-chair. The Rash family courageously shared their personal hospice journey, touching everyone present. Shaun Dyer, our Executive Director, painted a vivid picture of a day at the hospice, shedding light on the incredible people behind its compassionate care.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated Gala committee, the hardworking hospice team, and our incredible volunteers. Their tireless efforts behind the scenes were the secret ingredient to the Gala's success.
Thank you to YOU, our guests, sponsors, donors, and community champions. The Gratitude and Giving Gala - Mystical Masquerade was not just an event; it was a beautiful display of unity and unwavering support. It showcased a night of giving, love, and compassion, reinforcing our commitment to the Foothills Country Hospice's mission and vision.
