At Denver Inner City Parish (DICP), we’re continually inspired by the kindness and generosity of our volunteers, supporters, and donors. Each Saturday, our food distribution efforts are infused with a sense of warmth and community, thanks to the dedication of people like Melanie. Melanie, along with her husband and daughter, brings more than her time—she brings genuine joy, making each participant feel welcome and valued. Her smile lights up our Saturday food distribution events, reminding us how impactful a caring presence can be.

As we reflect on this season of gratitude, we want to recognize the vital role that each of you plays in our mission. Whether you’re able to volunteer like Melanie, offer financial support, or share your talents, we see you and appreciate the difference you make. Because of your contributions, DICP is able to provide essential resources, hope, and a sense of community to those who need it most.
If volunteering isn’t possible right now, we invite you to consider a donation toward this year's Colorado Gives Day campaign to help us reach our $40,000 goal. Donations made between November 1 and December 10th can qualify for us for prizes and incentives, boosting your impact even further. Last year, contributions during this period were amplified by a $1.4 million incentive fund!
Together, with supporters like you, we are building a brighter, more connected community. Thank you for making this possible.

🌈 VeggieRx - Helping Us Eat the Rainbow 🌈
|
Our VeggieRx program is making a real impact on participants’ lives, promoting healthier choices and providing essential nutrition education. Current program participant, Camellia Hicks shared, “I loved the food and I loved how we learned how to read the labels on the can to see what’s good for us and not good for us. It was a great experience; I ate things that I have never eaten before.”
She also emphasized the importance of these sessions, noting, “Esmeralda taught us things that we didn’t know about different foods and different cultures and how to eat food that is good for our bodies. Overall, the class was very helpful to me as a senior. I had a heart attack so it was very helpful to me to learn all the different and healthy things I need to eat for my body.”
By equipping participants with knowledge and hands-on experience, VeggieRx continues to empower individuals to make healthier, life-enhancing choices.

We’re thrilled to welcome Travis Trujillo to the Denver Inner City Parish (DICP) Board of Directors! Travis brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to community service, making him an incredible addition to our team. A member and agent of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 68 (IBEW Local 68), Travis is a seasoned Journeyman Wireman Electrician and currently serves as an Organizer and Membership Development Agent. He also leads as the President of the Denver Chapter of the Electrical Workers Minority Caucus (Denver EWMC).
Outside of his professional life, Travis is devoted to his loved ones, finds strength and camaraderie with his SIN Martial Arts Familia, and loves riding his Harley—with his loyal pittie, Emilio Estevez Trujillo, often by his side.
Travis has a long history of volunteerism, including countless Saturdays spent at DICP’s food pantry. His experience ranges from leading community service days to mentoring high school students in trades—a role that, he says, taught him patience and brought him a new level of appreciation for young people stepping into the workforce.
Now, as a board member, Travis is eager to dive deeper into the inner workings of DICP and bring a fresh perspective rooted in his experiences as both a volunteer and community advocate. “The food pantry will always be near to my heart,” Travis shares. “There’s something so humbling about helping provide a basic human need, and the gratitude of community members has helped me prioritize what truly matters.”
We’re excited to work alongside Travis and look forward to the impact we’ll make together. Welcome, Travis!

At Denver Inner City Parish (DICP), we’re proud to work alongside dedicated partner organizations that share our commitment to reducing food insecurity and strengthening community bonds. One of our valued partners, Mutual Aid Monday, has been collaborating with us for over four years to serve homemade meals to hundreds of people in need each week. As Virya, Founder of Mutual Aid Mondays, shares:
“Our collaboration with Inner City Parish is one of the main reasons Mutual Aid Monday is able to feed 200-400 people every week...for over 4 years. We feed the unhoused community in Denver along with our migrant neighbors, recently housed folx and food insecure people. We have a variety of homemade dishes, sweets, and beverages. Many times we hear that our meal is the best part of someone's week. I think this is especially true because of the huge community sense that the MAM meal creates.
Thank you so much DICP!"
| This partnership enables us to reach even more individuals, providing nourishment and a sense of community to those who need it most. | |
Donating to DICP couldn't be easier!
