Welcome to the Georgetown Lombardi Arts & Humanities Program (AHP) newsletter. In this week's issue, we review the visual arts offerings recently provided by the AHP. The Day of Dance is also announced, which will take place on October 23rd at MGUH.

The AHP continues to promote a cheerful environment for visitors and staff of the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center Adult Clinic. Local artists receive the opportunity to be featured in the clinic on a rotating basis.


Our current art exhibition, All That We Gather, is a collection of artworks by Washington, DC- based artist Jodi Ferrier. Her bold and lively brushstrokes and colorful paintings create a feeling of optimism, and hope.

Visual artist Bettina Brunner has joined the AHP to teach online classes

in acrylic and watercolor painting. Her classes have been a hit!

You can often find her using unexpected items in her classes such as bubble wrap or credit cards. Bettina breaks down the steps of painting to make it accessible and fun for everyone.

Bettina brings a creative, multimedia approach to painting that encourages participants to

think outside of the box and

embrace themselves as artists.

Influenced by her years living abroad and professional background in international development, she approaches art as both a personal and communal act

of reflection and belonging.


She firmly believes humans are creative beings and that art is an essential part of life for us all.

Creator of the AHP Logo, Susan J. Goldman featured on WETA ARTS

AHP Faculty Director Julia Langley with Susan J. Goldman

Master printmaker Susan J. Goldman was recently featured on WETA PBS, in their WETA Arts series. This program celebrates the visual and performing arts in Washington, DC. In this video, AHP Faculty Director, Julia Langley, discusses Susan's artworks in MedStar Georgetown University Hospital (MGUH).


Susan created the flower image for the AHP's logo in 2017 and her prints can also be seen throughout the Cancer Center.

Her distinctive style and iconic flower designs makes her work stand out.


In addition to Susan's permanent installations, she collaborated with renowned visual artist Sam Gilliam to install the permanent artwork Frieze that can be found in the Lombardi Cancer Center Atrium.


She is the founder of Lily Press, a studio that provides services to artists. Susan is also the Founding Director of the nonprofit the Printmaking Legacy Project, that preserves and promotes the traditional art of printmaking.

The AHP provides moments of fun, creativity, and relaxation for medical staff at MGUH.

Visual artist-in-residence Jennifer Wilkin Penick facilitates arts workshops with different departments offering the opportunity to make collages, paint, and connect with colleagues.

The 6th Annual Day of Dance

Day of Dance 2025

The Day of Dance returns to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital (MGUH) on Thursday, October 23rd! This exciting and inspiring event features a Movement Choir

of professional dancers and musicians that travel throughout MGUH bringing joy to everyone they encounter.


Join us in the Lombardi Atrium at 12:15 pm for the closing performance!

The Georgetown Lombardi Arts & Humanities Program (AHP) promotes a holistic approach to healthcare for patients, caregivers, physicians, nurses, staff members, and students through the use of music, dance, expressive writing, and visual arts. These therapeutic modalities are normally provided throughout the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., and online through Eventbrite courses. The AHP is a program of the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.
