Social Work at the Heart of Our Program Leadership

At the center of Springboard's program mission are people and the work of connecting, supporting, and advocating for them. This month, we’re excited to celebrate Tiffany Spaulding Wrona and Stephanie West, two incredible leaders who are approaching their one-year anniversary in program leadership. Who are celebrating their one-year anniversary with SCS’s program leadership team.

Their first year has been marked by steady growth, compassion, and a deep commitment to the individuals and families we serve. Both bring the heart and values of social work into every decision they make, reminding us that leadership here is not just about managing programs. It is about practicing with purpose.


Why Social Work matters in Leadership

As we celebrate Social Workers Appreciation Month, we are especially proud to recognize Tiffany and Stephanie for one year of leadership, growth, and impact. Thank you both for the dedication, professionalism, and commitment you demonstrate in your work each day.

From Crisis to Stability: A.M.’s Story

When 20-year-old A.M. came to SCS in January, she was homeless, newly pregnant, and living with sickle cell anemia. She urgently needed prenatal and primary care but had no identification documents or access to her medical records. Strained family relationships made asking for help even harder.


With consistent case management support, A.M. took courageous steps forward. She rebuilt communication with her father, secured the documents she needed, and is now scheduled to begin proper medical treatment. She has also registered for a YouthWorks summer job and remains actively engaged in ongoing support services.


What began as a moment of crisis is steadily becoming a foundation of stability, one step at a time.

Here's How We Set Hope in Motion

SCS is proud to participate in events and initiatives that raise awareness, strengthen support, and bring our community together.

We're thrilled to introduce the voices that will anchor our two days together at Collective Conversations this May: Dr. Wendy Ellis & Erin Merryn.

We are honored to open Day 1 of our conference with Erin Merryn. An internationally recognized author, speaker, and child abuse advocate, Erin is the architect of Erin's Law—now enacted in 38 states and Ontario, Canada. She has transformed her own lived experience into a powerful national movement, bringing personal body safety education into classrooms across the country.

On Day 2, we are proud to welcome Wendy Ellis, Director of the Center for Community Resilience at George Washington University. Dr. Ellis has reshaped how we understand Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) within the broader context of adverse community environments—what she has coined “The Pair of ACEs.” Her work bridges research, policy, and practice to create sustainable pathways toward community resilience.

Together, these speakers represent two essential perspectives: the lived experience that fuels our mission and the research-backed strategies that move it forward. We hope their insights will both challenge and inspire you.
