The MY HERO Project is happy to announce the 2024 Finalists for the annual

Sylvia Earle Ocean Conservation Award, which honors filmmakers whose work depicts innovative people, and groups, who are committed to preserving and protecting the world's oceans. The award comes with cash prizes of up the $2,000.

The award, sponsored by the MacGillivray Freeman Films Educational Foundation's One World One Ocean campaign, is presented, each year, on June 8th, World Oceans Day.

Sylvia Earle is a world-renowned oceanographer and explorer. She's also an author, lecturer, explorer and research scientist, who has led more than 70 expeditions. The firmer Chief Scientist of NOAA has logged more than 6,500 hours underwater. She is, currently, a National Geographic explorer-in-residence. Earle, also, serves as Principal Advisor to the One World One Ocean campaign.

MacGillivray Freeman Films, makers of IMAX films since the 1970s, launched its One World One Ocean campaign to raise awareness of ocean degradation, to inspire people by showing the ocean in its healthy, wild state, and to spark a global movement to protect the world's seas. Each year, the organization sponsors the Sylvia Earle Ocean Conservation Award.

Submissions are being accepted for the 2025 Sylvia Earle Award.
