Today, June 20
th
, is World Refugee Day, a global celebration of the contributions, courage, and resilience of refugees.
Our community is better, stronger, and brighter with the skills and diversity of refugees and immigrants; in fact, many of them have jobs that have them serving on the frontlines of the current pandemic.
JFS is here to support EVERYONE and fight oppression in all forms. Now, more than ever, we realize the challenges of being labeled an “other” and, as the only resettlement agency in Delaware, we are grateful for the opportunity to serve and support these incredible families, hear and share their inspiring stories, and advocate for the acceptance of ALL individuals in an inclusive, welcoming society.
Thank you to everyone—community volunteers, local congregations, the State of Delaware and its leaders, and national partners like HIAS and ORR
—who helps JFS do this important work...we couldn't do it without you; together, we open our doors, arms, minds, and hearts to help refugees make Delaware their home.
During World Refugee Day and all year long,
we celebrate our strength in diversity.
