Celebrating a Decade of Forming Apostles
|
|
Reviving faith, rekindling charity, and forming apostles are what we do at Catholic Apostolate Center. We do it because that is what St. Vincent Pallotti did in Rome in the first half of the nineteenth century and what his spiritual children have done for 187 years. As we conclude our tenth anniversary celebration, we offer gratitude to God, the Infinite Love, for all the blessings that we have received in this ministry.
Synodality is now a common word in the Church. From the beginning, the Center team journeyed together with the Holy Spirit in a co-responsible and collaborative way. This way of being is not unique to Catholic Apostolate Center but is at the core of the witness of St. Vincent Pallotti and his spiritual legacy, the Union of Catholic Apostolate.
Our second decade has begun well with many new resources and expanded collaboration with various national and international Catholic organizations. There is much more to come for active Catholics who want to live as apostles, as missionary disciples.
We look forward to where the Holy Spirit moves this ministry. We discern this in the Cenacle with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Apostles, and then go forth as apostles in service to Christ and the Church.
Thank you for your support over this past decade and know that our prayers are with you.
May the Charity of Christ urge us on!
In Christ, Apostle of the Eternal Father,

Catholic Apostolate Center Anniversary
|
|
Today, the Center concluded the celebration of our 10th anniversary year. Established by the Pallottines of the Immaculate Conception Province, the Center is a twenty-first century manifestation of St. Vincent Pallotti's call to revive faith, rekindle charity, and form apostles. Through our collaborative efforts, the Center has created programs, resources, and content aimed at enhancing the lives of active Catholics and leaders within our Church and associated ministries.
We thank you for engaging with us over the last ten years and we look forward to engaging with you well into the future as we seek to form apostles, to rekindle faith and to revive charity.

As parishes re-focus after a long summer, they can generate a lot of spiritual growth through focusing on discipleship. Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C., and Fr. Frank DeSiano, CSP provided a way to think about and exercise discipleship today. Using the evangelization document, Living as Missionary Disciples, they looked at ways in which Catholics carry out discipleship and ways in which we can grow as disciples. This was followed by a presentation of new resources for discipleship from the Catholic Apostolate Center and Paulist Evangelization Ministries.

Join the Catholic Apostolate Center in commemorating our 11th Anniversary by celebrating Saint Vincent Pallotti.
St. Vincent Pallotti (1795-1850), a priest of the Diocese of Rome, founded in 1835 an association of lay people, religious, and clergy called the Union of Catholic Apostolate to assist the Church’s missionary work, revive the faith of Catholics, and engage in universal charity. From that association grew religious communities of men and women, including the Society of the Catholic Apostolate (Pallottine Fathers and Brothers). Pallotti believed that all are called to be apostles of Jesus Christ in the Church and in the world.

The name game for saints with common names is a frequent and sometimes frustrating occurrence, as is often the case with St. Vincent Pallotti—my patron, confirmation saint, and friend. Pallotti was many things: the friend of popes and cardinals, confessor of many of the religious in Rome at the various colleges, and great supporter of the laity. Throughout his 55 years of life, Pallotti did everything for the infinite glory of God (infinitam Dei gloriam). His life, message, and charism were life-giving and meaningful while he was alive, as well as today.
Many saints can seem out of our reach—St. Joseph of Cupertino is known for flying and St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina received the stigmata. While there are accounts of St. Vincent Pallotti levitating and bilocating, his life and legacy are not marked solely by these acts of mysticism. One of the main reasons that Pallotti’s example resonates so deeply with me in 2020—170 years after his death—is because of how humble and “normal” his life was. Now, “normal” is quite relative, but in comparison to many well-known saints, Pallotti’s life was normal, even boring.
