Celebrate Good Times!!

Main Street Alabama celebrated 10 years of economic impact with a reception and program on November 7th. The Club in Birmingham was the perfect venue for this momentous occasion, with a stunning view of Birmingham's skyline. The night was filled with laughter, music, and joy as we commemorated a decade of economic impact. Main Street Alabama Board Members, Jim Byard, Jr., Byard and Associates, and Paul Kennedy, President, Walker Area Community Foundation, welcomed guests from all over who came to share in this incredible milestone.

We were also honored to have special guests from Main Street America; Hannah White, Managing Director, Steve Amraen, Manager of Network Services, Tali Jamir, Senior Manager of Member Engagement, Kimber Biles, Horizon Event Management and Main Street America board member, Irvin Henderson. Cornell Wesley brought greetings from Mayor Randall Woodfin, as we look forward to hosting the National Main Street Conference in Birmingham next May, this celebration was the perfect prelude to that! Hannah let us know that planning is well underway for the conference. Main Street Now is the largest gathering of commercial district revitalization professionals in the U.S., drawing local economic development and revitalization leaders from small towns, mid-sized cities, and urban neighborhood business districts for an immersive networking and learning experience. In the past, Main Street Now has attracted close to two thousand attendees from across the nation and around the world! And the evening's keynote address from Secretary of Commerce Greg Canfield emphasized just how crucial Main Street Alabama efforts are to economic development in the state of Alabama. Plus, the economic impact assessment conducted by PlaceEconomics demonstrates the incredible potential for continued revitalization. We closed the celebration with a new video, "Where would we be without Main Street Alabama?"

As the year comes to an end, we at Main Street Alabama want to extend our warmest wishes to you for a joyful and peaceful holiday season. We hope that you can enjoy this special time with loved ones and reflect on the many blessings of the past year. As we look ahead to 2024, we are excited to continue our work to strengthen and revitalize our communities across the state. Thank you for your continued support, and we wish you a happy and prosperous New Year!
